i've been reading and reading all about your kitties for some time now and thought i'd jump in and say hi. i just lost my 3 yr old kitty, riley, to an untreatable bladder condition. we still have his sister, abbey and i have actively started to look for a friend for her. she seems to be content when we're all here but at night and when she thinks no one is home, she cries constantly. i'm hoping to find a buddy for her this week. think good thoughts and i'll bet we'll find her a good friend for life.

Sorry to hear about the loss of Riley. I think it is great that you are now looking for a new buddy for Abbey.
I lost one of my cats of 14 years Flip just a few weeks ago, I have since added Linus to the family for the same reason you are searching for a new pet.
Sassy my other cat missed Flip very badly, they had been together all their lives. For several days after Flip's passing, Sassy moped around the house and spent a great deal of time looking for him.
That all changed after I brought Linus home, at first Sassy wasn't to happy have a different cat around but they got use to each other quickly an now are the best of friends.
I wish you good luck in your search and hopefully you will find an incrediable little fur baby to add to your home.

i've had no luck with a couple of the rescue groups locally and i must say they were not quick to return phone calls which gave me the sad impression that they didn't want to adopt out any cats. i actually had to beg to see the cats at their shelters and when i did get there, they were not pleasant people to deal with.

so, saturday i'm off to a local spca to meet and greet 270
cats! yikes! i imagine i'll find a friend there for abbey. i've always gotten kittens from a barn but my daughter wants to try the shelter for perhaps a year old cat instead of a kitten.

do you guys have any thoughts on shelter cats versus barn cat? i'm thinking barn cats are less exposed to kitty illnesses but i sure would like to give a rescue cat chance too.

thanks.
