NUMBER 1 just came out, and he is healthy, only thing is, middie didn't clean or do anything ese, infact her mother, whom is also pregnant.. (i thought she was just fat) is giving her baby milk, and cleaned him up, she also cleaned middie up, can you believe that? is this normal for her mom to be doing her motherly duties.

Good Luck

I hope so, Baby A (bobby just for now) doesn't seem to get any nipples, because her nipples are dry... and aren't swollen like they should be... so he goes to his grannie (kandy).. but he doesn't seem to stay... i want to make the homemade milk there, but i don't think i'll find that envelope of Knox unflavored gelatin.

You may need to clean them up for her, and do you have KMR to give the babies since momma has no milk? At least one of the cats are helping out I hope everyone does ok!

First, don't panic. Your little girl is more concerned with delivering the rest of the babies right now and that is how it should be. If she isn't breaking the sac or cleaning the kittens at all, then you must do that for her, but you have to give her a chance first. Milk will come down as the delivery progresses.

Do not begin to bottle feed these kittens until you are 100% certain that Momma isn't going to. The first milk they get should be Mom's as it is rich in immune-boosting properties and things they need in the first days.

Butterball didn't have any milk at first either. Her milk didn't come down until after the 3rd was born, but they still suckeled (sp?) the whole time she was birthing.

Well, I'm not sure, but the babies can't get any milk from her, and she won't go and take care of them, right now number 2 is in process.. she's having a hard time. I'm giving her space, but she seems to just want to run away under my bed.

Put her in her kitten nest, darken the lights and sit quietly. Don't add to her stress by running at her, chasing her down, talking a lot or trying to help. If she is genuinely having a hard time with the delivery, then she should see her vet.

Is she breaking the sac so that the kittens can breathe?

The babies don't need to get milk from her right away, they will be fine so long as they are warm and safe. Milk will come down once the birth hormones are released ... give it some time. Just put the kittens into the nest with warm, dry bedding and let Momma do what she needs to do for right now.

*grin* I know you are excited, and I know it is hard not to get right in there and help, but honestly, cats have been giving birth, largely unattended, for a really long time. Your role now is to keep watch to make sure there aren't any major problems and from the sound of it, there doesn't appear to be anything to be overly concerned about at the moment.

You aren't being a pain ... this is a very anxious time for both you and Middie! Just remember to breathe, Lamb. Things are out of your hands now, so sit back, relax and just be there in case she needs you.
