I'm not the food expert, but the ingredients look pretty good. Odo wouldn't be able to eat it because of his fish allergy, so I couldn't feed it to my cats. I would suggest monitoring the amounts you feed carefully. The canned suggests 2 3-ounce cans per day for an active 6-8 pound cat. Each 3-ounce can has 116 calories, and I know that if I gave Odo (who is just under 12 pounds) 2 cans he would gain weight. I'm having a tough time getting him to lose weight on 6 ounces of Natural Balance, which has 156 calories versus the 232 calories for the same amount of this stuff. I would suggest carefully watching Ping's weight while feeding such dense food. Also the link you posted was for a starter pack that included a vitamin supplement. Why are the extra vitamins necessary? That makes me pause.

If Sharky doesn't answer soon, you might want to PM her. I think I've seen this in my local pet food (extremely specialty) shop. The lady who owns this shop is REALLY picky! So I think that it looks pretty good...

It isn't the best food out there ingredient-wise but is far from the worst. They have it at my local premium type food store (but they also stock Hills etc so its not a super premium store)

The fish content means it would never be the only food fed with mine, as too much fish can be bad. The canned looks a lot better than the dry.

It really depends what you are feeding now, you can compare the two at the link on their website

I mainly got the sample for the wet to see how Ping does on it and if he likes it. For dry I am seriously considering switching to TimerWolf Organics. And for once my husband is not looking at me like I am crazy for switching Ping to one of the higher quality foods. I think the recent recalls have even shaken my husband.

The wet aside for the grass

The dry has some stuff I am not happy with in dry food ... Timberwolf is a GREAT choice but for less you can get Raw instincts which is very simaliar

Aside from the fact TimberWolf looks like a really good food. I also choose it because of the shipping. If I order over 15.00 I think (2 4lb bags) I can get free shipping. And because I live in a rural southern area shipping is almost always 10-15.00 for shipping alone.
