It is snowing...snowing here in central texas! Our ground is covered and it has been snowing for hours. This will only last the Easter weekend, but if it gets any colder, we will lose a lot of birds. I have a hummer that has been sitting on my greggii trying to conserve his energy. I put multiple feeders out for him, hoping he will survive. He is hunkered down under my honeysuckle. He is losing strength. I have never seen a hummingbird sit still for an hour.
I also have a nesting cardinal pair hunkered down in our tree where our feeder is. Can I get some vibes for these birds that they will survive this weather?

We have had a snowy day as well here in Central Ontario. I have been thinking similar thoughts about the poor birds hanging around my yard as well. No hummer's yet it's a bit to early for that, but I have some very cold looking robins, and a couple of very sad red-winged blackbirds.
This is the first week that the robins have been back as we just lost most of our snow just a couple of weeks ago.
I am hoping that the weather warms up tomorrow, and I will keep my fingers crossed that your little hummer hangs in there. They are resilent little critters.....

It snowed just a touch up here, too. Just after dawn, I heard my mom up and banging around, so I got up to check on her... and caught her coming back in the front door. She had gone out in her robe and slippers to fill the bird feeder, bless her heart!
She said she woke up worrying about those poor cold little birds.

I got a gooood mom.

Bless your mom!
In times like these, they need a little help from us. Now that all my flowers are covered with snow, those feeders are vital to his survival.

Well, it is now morning and I saw the little guy zooming around so I know he made it and is full of energy. I hope I will be able to get my plants back up. They are still weighed down by the snow.
