We are currently feeding the cats Science Diet kitten food, but wanted to move them to something "better". We are located in Canada and I am having a little trouble locating a good food and a good place to buy higher quality pet food because most of the research I do shows USA foods. Does anyone have any recommendations on what I could feed my kittens?

And yes, we too are totally confused about the pet food recall business.. scary stuff, isnt' it!

Thanks in advance for the recommendations.

here try these locators

Canidae (you'd get the Felidae for a cat but they are made but the same manufacturer) http://www.canidae.com/company/storelocator.html

Natura pet foods (get either Innova, EVO, or California Natural. The others are not as good IMO) http://www.naturapet.com/where-to-buy/

Timber Wolf Organics (you get the Serengeti for cats) http://timberwolforganics.com/s.nl/it.I/id.74/.f

Natural Balance (I like their wet but not their dry) http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/home/locator.tpl

Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul http://www.chickensoupforthepetlover...ealer_locator/

hope you found something, If you need help choosing formulas of a specific brand I'll do what I can to help you with that

Performation ultra( spelling) - Performatrin Ultra is the housebrand of PetValu and that is what Bijou and Mika get - the chicken and brown rice. They also have a lamb and rice as well.

I find our PetValu to be very good but I know Icklemiss has had issues with hers. I guess it really depends on who owns the particular franchise in your area.

With the Performatrin (at least at our PetValu), they put you on a registry and after you buy 10 bags you get one bag free.

Try This store called Tisol Pet Nutrition & Supply Store, they r in lower mainland.
I browse the product they carry and it includes high end ones including Innova, Evo, Canidae/Felidae, Califonia Natural, Eagle Pack, Wellness...etc.

This one Bosley is also BC based.
It doens't say on their website what brands they carry, however, when I check retailers in BC from Evo and Wellness website, Bosley's came up, so I suppose they do carry some premium brands.

Thanks everyone! So I used the suggestion and found a Tisol nearby. They had lots of great foods that I have read awesome reviews on. They had a sale on the Canadine (or Feladie I think it is) food, so I grabbed some of that. I started integrating it into the kittens food tonight so I'm glad. I wanted to switch them over sooner, but the pet food recall was a good kick in the bum!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! Kittens are HAPPY!

I just switched my guys to Felidae also. So far they like it I am hoping it will be an easy transition. I didn't have a chance to transition them I returned ALL cat and dog food to PetsMart store. I didn't want anything to do with feed that was on the recall list and was made by Menu plus one of my kittens started to throw up so I got paranoid and switched them over today.
