Ok...I'm planning to get a new kitty this summer. I have only had a female before. I'd like some observations and anecdotes about the differences between girl and boy kitties. I know everyone has their own opinions...I'd just like to hear them!

Boy v. Girl?

I was always pretty much a boy kitty mum exclusively until I got SunLee, but she chanced my mind. I have always felt boy kitties are more affectionate, but you couldn't find a sweeter cat than SunLee.
However, I'd say get a sweet loving affectionate kitty and don't pay attention to what sex it is.
Now, I will say it's a lot cheaper to neuter a boy than to spay a girl, and usually you can pick your boy kitty up the same day he gets neutered.

I have only had Miagi and Tiger.. both boys and I really don't have a preference. It all depends on the purrsonality.

I prefer boys, they seem to be more snuggly and can be easier to introduce another cat to later. Every cat is different though, so try to get the one that 'connects' to you best.

Each kitty is different and unique.
I really don't have a preference to gender as one gender is not better than another. What i do is just spend time with the kitties i'm interested in and see which one i bond with and which one fits best into my established household
I've only had girl kitties because I tend to adopt strays and there seems to be so many stray girl kitties.
I have no aversion to having a boy kitty though. All kitties deserve a warm loving home

I've helped many many people pick out the right kitty...please don't go looking for sex. Go looking for a kitty. GO looking for a sweet cat, or a special needs cat, an older cat, a lap cat, a cat who needs extra love....whatever....just don't go looking for sex. You can have friendly lap cat males & friendly lap cat females. You can have anti-social females & anti-social males.
yep, that about says it. i have found that often if you really look, the right cats seems pick you.
I dont find much of a difference between girl and boy cats in terms of behaviour, once they are spayed/neutered...I have both and all are snuggly, affectionate, lovely temperamented cats.
What I do find that does make a difference is:
1) the time the kitty has spent with its mum and how much socialisation with humans its had in those formative early weeks
2) breed...e.g. siamese are SO different to persians lol

well I have noticed my female cats are the ones who go hunting more
males are cheaper to have neutered

i have had both in the household but i just go with purrsonality, if the me and the cat doesn't make a connection then it just won't work period. i have found that i like royal attitudes though, that is, if they work with mine.
See this is something hard to answer because all cats are different and each has their own personality...to be honest it was easier to introduce the females than the males! Of course we out number the males in our house as well
But Blue is the most friendliest cat u will ever met she is just always up for cuddles and loves her step siblings so to speak, and they are always playing, next to cuddleness is bella she just loves to be on everyones shoulders lol but she is somewhat insependent, and then there is willie who well is the "king" so to speak, he is sooo friendly but doesnt really want to have anything to do with the other kitties, midnight is scared of the females because they aint taken no crpa from him
, then Stormie is the most independent in our house, well so is tessa, tessa cuddles with my mom sometimes but she is more of whats that and everything! SO imo its how u introduce them and how their personality's are ! The sex doesnt really matter to me its just the personality that i look for
