I feel like a horrible fish mommy. For the last few weeks the temperatures here have been high, and so I turned off my heat. Mr. Lonely has been in my home office which is always the warmest room in the house due to the number of machines I have running.

Well lastnight the temperatures in the house dropped so dramatically that I woke up to my dog whining and shivering. I didn't notice cause I was under the covers. I ran to turn the heat on and saw that the thermostat showed it was only 55 F in the house!

When I went back upstairs to check on the fish, Paris was meowing at him and swatting his tank but he wasn't moving. I wiggled his tank a little and I got what looked like a reflex out of his tail, but he really was so still that I thought he was dead.

I ran to the first betta forums I could find and made an emergency post. No one replied, so I filled a sink with warm water and placed his tank in it. Within minutes he was back to life, and swimming around like normal, although now he only has red fins compared to a fully red body before. It's so weird. Well either way, he's still hanging out in the sink while the house warms up.

Poor little guy! I'm probably going out to get him a tank with a heater today.

Yes, that was very smart! I'm afraid my instinct would have been to take him out of the water and snuggle him!
Maybe I'd better stick to cats...
