Hi,

All is well with Pixie and her kits, there is just one thing that is bothering and that is the breaks she is taking. Take this morning for example she was away from them for nearly an hour, spent about half an hour with them and wanted out again! I let her downstairs for about half hour/40 mins and then had to take her back up to them. She is still sitting by the bedroom door wanting to get out!

They are in the bedroom at the moment - this is where she had them and Pixie has everything she needs in there - litter tray, water, food... but I am wondering if she'd prefer them to be be downstairs, where we normally are, I think she feels out of it up there and away from us, even though we go up and see her regularly.

I have to keep the bedroom door shut at the moment because we have 3 other cats and I don't want her to get anxious having them around the kits, also I wouldn't want the others left alone with the kits, I'm sure nothing would happen but better to be safe than sorry!

Anyway what I am asking is do you think she'd be better off downstairs. I would consider moving them down - but yesterday pixie moved the kittens from the box they were in to the bottom of the wardrobe! We have made it safe for them there and she seems happy with everything, but the last thing I want to do is move them downstairs and for this to make her unsettled and to move them again!

She is a good mum, when they cry she goes straight to them, but when she is having breaks even if they did cry - they usually don't, she wouldn't be able to hear them as she is downstairs.

Any advice would be grateful! Thanks.

as long as she dosnt stay away from them for over an hour without returning then i would be to worried. there like us we need breaks from time to time aswell. anne takes breaks about 6 times a day. but her kittens are nearly 4 weeks old now. but shes been doing it since they was 2 weeks old. as long as shes feeding them groming them i think all sounds fine.
