I have had my cats for two years now (one male one female) and no matter what I do they are afraid of everything, including me. My boyfriend and I have brought them up in a very loving and affectionate environment but to no avail they still run from us everytime we talk toward them. The female especially doesn't like to be touched and hates contact of any kind with humans. The only time they get close to us is when we're sleeping. We've done nothing to harm them or hurt them and brought nothing into their life that would make them feel threatened. Anyone experiencing something similiar and know how to get your cats to trust you?

Cats have different personalities, some more affectionate/daring/more curious/trusting than others. My senior cat Joji has never cared for humans and she will not cuddle or be petted unless she allows it. My Ni is the most loving, clingy cat of the bunch. Go is fearless while San and few of the rest will hide the moment they sense people.

My fuzzy butt, Maia, is afraid of everything and everyone but me. I talk a lot to her, all day, everything I do. The most important thing is to assure them when something is about to happen or does happen by talking to them, as if you are talking to your self in the second hand. This way you don't seem crazy
! I have been an animal lover all my life, and always have talked to my pets as well as others, people may think you are weird, but the animals don't, thats all that counts to me!
I would also suggest some interaction play toys, and actually sitting and talking while they eat if they are that skiddish.

I have one who is just a big fat chicken bully cat is just afraid of anyone except me or my bf. He would hide until people leaves but my other one is perfectly fine with strangers and she is the petite one. Just so strange......I never understand why.

I also talk to my two furbabies a lot so often time they would talk back in their cat language. Maybe if you have more play time and interact with them, it will help.

When we adopted Alley two months ago, she was afraid of everything and hid under the bed most of the time. But she came out of it and became very loving with DW, me and Persi. But two weeks ago I broke my foot and I am now on crutches and when she sees me coming at her on crutches she runs and hides. When I go to bed at night and am not on crutches, she comes up and lays on my chest and is very loving. So, in my case I know it is my crutches that are freaking her out. Perhaps if you think about it, you can think of something that seems so harmless to you but would scare your cat?
