OK guys, I need some help. Went to a new vet on saturday and as suspected, he told me max was a little pudgy. He was 17.7 lbs. Which was actualla little down from last time. He needs to lose more in asking a million questions about food do you believe I forgot to ask how much to give him so he would lose safley? Any suggestions? A friend of mine is having the same issue. her cat is 19 lbs. Max normally gets hard food every day and soft food 2-3 times a weekas a treat. I looked on the bag and in said 3/4 to 1 1/4 cups for a cat up to 14lbs but that honestly seems like more than he currently eats. Any suggestions wuld be appreciated.

Sharky is our nutritional expert and she'll help you out I'm sure when she comes on. The first thing I would suggest is cut back on the dry food and feed more wet food - it helped me slim down our Bijou. It's also better for them than dry food.

I would suggest feeding Max more wet food. I am going through the same thing with Roxie right now. It got to the point where we were only feeding her about 1/3 cup dry a day and she was STILL gaining weight. She weighs 12lbs and now gets 1/2 can wet a day (1/4 can in am, 1/4 can in pm) plus 1/4 cup dry in the afternoon. It has been about a month since we have started with the wet and things have definately improved.

I hope that helped a little! Hopefully Sharky will catch your thread and be able to help more than I did!!
