in the land of poutine and ice
fudge flavoured frozen pop things, almost like icecream on a stick, but only 50-100 cals per treat and no far depending on the type you buy, they are a far cry from Ben & Jerrys
but taste decent and satisfy the icecream cravings

The skinny cow I buy is 90 cals for one and the biggest difference is that they are made with splenda instead of sugar...I mean I can buy something else with only 70 cals per bar, but it is loaded with sugar.

I like them, I guess I'm getting used to low fat, no sugar type things because I don't notice a difference in taste anymore.

I'm not fond of splenda. So I would probably rather get the lower cal one with real sugar. But I might try it!

I use splenda instead of sugar for anything that requires it, so I guess that's why I like them. I get headaches from any other type of sweetener except splenda.

Well, I had my WW weigh-in today, and I'm down a pound. (Hey, every little bit helps.) I threw my back out last weekend, so I haven't been able to work out, though I am trying to walk as much as I can. I'm doing better on sticking to my points.

My sister swears by them. Of course, I had one, thought it was pretty good, but a box would last in my freezer for ages if it were just me. Won't last very long around my sister.. she adores ice cream.

My downfall is carbs.. bread, pasta.. oh, and butterrrrrr....

I love their ice cream sandwiches. Dairy Queen also has a FF fudge bar thats 1 point (50 cal) that's pretty good.

Well, I did really bad yesterday. I didn't have anything to make for lunch so I ended up getting an individual pizza at the gas station before class. Then we had cheese burgers w/ potato salad and cole slaw. It was good but bad... lol What's funny is the coleslaw was WAY worse than the potato salad.

You guys are so great. I've been staying away from this thread the past few days, because I just couldn't face up to my failure to get it together again... but I peek in and start reading what I've missed, and you're all so full of positive energy! What was I thinking? I'm sticking with you!

But I have a new plan. One of the things that's been making it difficult for me to live up to my intentions is that I don't have highspeed internet, so it can take me an hour or more just to list what I ate today over on Spark! And therefore, I dread doing it, and therefore, I don't.

However -- in the week or so that I did keep up with it, I learned a lot about my habits and how they need to change. I truly had no idea how badly I was eating! So now that I understand the problem (which is mostly portions), I'm going to drop that hour-a-day commitment until I get highspeed, and instead just try to make the food choices I know I should make. Maybe doublecheck myself by doing the list once a week, to make sure I really am cutting back properly. But it makes no sense to sit at the computer for an extra hour every night, trying to enter foods in a form, when I could go out for a walk!

So... I'm going over to the scales now for the first time in four days... hang on a moment...

Okay. 227. I gained four pounds back. But I'll lose it again, by golly! YES I WILL!

I did my crunches last night after our walk. Tonight I have to feed DH is last meal with teeth, so I might not be able to do my whole workout regime but I have been doing extra little stuff at work today to burn more calories. Cut up about 6 big boxes and toted them down to the garbage, which helped some. But I will just have to do more when I can!

~I should have been in here the first day I joined the site. My story is not one that you havent heard before haha~ Here is my info. So let me know what do we do just post in here daily etc? Somebody give me the details on how this thread works?~

I have always been a big boned girl. At age 15 I was 120 lbs but I felt like I was fat. I struggled with anorexia for 3 years and then had an on again off agai problem with buhlemia. I had my first child at 16, second at 18 and third at 21. With each baby I was very thin. I only gained 9 lbs with my first child, actually LOST 13 lbs during the second child and it wasnt until my third child and during my 9th month that I ever had a pregnancy belly. Nobody could tell I was pregnant prior to that month of that pregnancy. After my last child was born I was "spayed" so to speak. I start gradually gaining weight. I was up to 200 a year after my last child was born in 2000. I was in a car accident 2 years ago and messed up my back. I gained another 100 lbs within 9 months being in the bed for so long. It took a severe toll on my emotional state of mind etc. I became very depressed etc. I finally got the motivation to get up and do something once I was cleared by my dr to return to normal activities.

I started going to the gym. Within 6 months I had lost 20 lbs. I worked VERY hard to lose the 20 lbs. Gym twice a day, strict 1200 calories a day. NO cheating etc. Then finally my dr decided I had tried as hard as I could and prescribed me Phentermine for 3 months. I lost 60 lbs within the 3 months I was on Phentermine. 20 lbs a MONTH seems like a dream! Problem is they will only give you Phentermine for 3 months because after that your body sorta gets used to it and it doesnt work as well. So since Ive been off Phentermine I have yo yo'ed with my weight. Lost 20, gained 40 back. So I went from 290 lbs exactly 1 year ago, down to 220 lbs 5 months ago and Im back at 260 lbs give or take.

I am decently tall at 5'9 so my goal weight is 180. Its not my PERFECT weight but I look GOOD at 180 so I will be very happy with that. My FIRST goal is just to get back down to 220. So I have 40 lbs to lose first! So let me know what we need to do to get my butt thin...well THINNER haha! PS Are we posting before/after pics?

When I was on another weight loss board they posted weekly stats and pictures. Can we do that here or no??~

Here I am currently at 260+/- lbs?? UGGGHHHH it takes alot of nerve to post my pics haha I look AWEFUL!

Carol: Way to go with getting back on track!!! Yay!

Silly: Just do what you can as you can do it. As long as you're concious of it, I think you'll try to make the best decisions.

Mom_2_3: Posting before/after pics is a great idea, if people would like to! And as long as the moderators have no issue with it.. ::glances at the powers that be:: I'd like to know who everyone is, even if we don't do it for the "before/after" effect. I will try to find one of me, or have my sister take one this weekend, potentially. I think I have one at this weight, with a few other friends in it.

We just post here whenever we make a change, see the results of a change, or fail to make one.. or just feel like posting. There's no sound rhyme or reason to it, so, feel free to post whenever you like and welcome aboard! You're a very attractive young lady, and I wanted to say that even though in the pictures you're heavier.. I think you're very pretty and (hopefully saying this isn't inappropriate).. you have a nice shape as well. I think you have lots of reasons to be positive about yourself and I think you'll do very well with getting back to a healthier weight! The first thing is, be positive about yourself. You don't look awful, honestly. You're not "skinny" but certainly, you do not look awful, at least in my opinion. My mini goal for you is for you to look in the mirror and pick out your positive traits, once a day or so, and forget the negatives!!

We're just trying to set small goals, and reach those for the most part, and then after we achieve success, we can make another goal. Most are trying to add just a bit more exercise to their routines and try to watch their foods. There is a goals post somewhere here, with updates as people joined. Berylyn, I believe, is keeping track of those, but if you post one for now, we have a "challege" date set for Memorial Day.

As a side note .. I had my WW weigh in today.. and I was down .02 pounds from last weeks gain, so it wasn't much but at least it was a little.

~Ive joined a many weight loss boards before but to be honest it didnt help me much because either 1. everyone was super thin talking about how they were fat and needed to lose weight, and 2. everyone was taking tons of prescription meds...which is OKAY because I HAD to for 3 months as well but its SOOO much harder to do it without those. I felt like I was working twice as hard as everyone else and not losing nearly as much. Thanks for the compliment. I know that my body shape is okay especially for my weight but I get soooo sick of hearing "You have SUCH a pretty face" lol Im like HELLO there is alot more of me than just my face...guess it isnt pretty enough haha. I need to start back counting calories. I used to do it every day but now Im sure I take in way more than what I NEED. I drink tons of coffee but with 3 kids, a house full of pets, a husband who works 6-7 days a week I NEED CAFFINE!

What is everyones theory on pop/soda and coffee? You drink it, dont? Diet...etc? Ive recently started drinking the 0 cal soda...Zero etc and they taste OKAY as long as they are SUPER ICE COLD but wasnt sure if they are much better for me than regular pop. Also any coffee people here? I drink at least a pot each morning haha! BADDD KYM I know! I dont know how else to keep my energy up. I already walk everyday with the dog. I have a messed up disc so I cant walk fast or far anymore because of that. I start tingling in my lower back and that is alot of the reason I cant be active as I want anymore!

Whats so hard is coming from having an eating disorder trying to look in a mirror and see anything but negative. Ive been so used to it for so long. I will make a sticky note each night and put it on my mirror before I go to bed so when I wake up and go to brush teeth etc I can remind myself of what GOOD things I have going for me....I might pop in here haha if I cant remember any haha! Thanks for letting me be a part of this great thread! Ill try not to thread hog it too much haha!

you look good now
but that is your height, helping you there for sure.
i see no reason why not,if people want to post pics then do it,

and
CarolPetunia just cause you got off of it for a few days dont get down on yourself, get back to it, i told you before, there will be many up and downs when it comes to losing. Some times you lose like crazy, others times, it may take weeks before it starts to drop again, just keep doing it,

Well, I've been eating kind of bad this week. Nothing really terribly but stuff like cheese burgers and burritos. I'm over on my points by a LONG shot but I'm still tracking them. I have been keeping my protions down though and that's one of my biggest problems. I also made a bracelet to help remind me what I'm doing. It's a sub for the tattoo I'm contemplating getting on my wrist. The bracelet says "balance-mind-balance-body" and it wraps around obviously. The tatt is a piece of knot work (kind of celtic) that represents balance too. I think I'm going to have it done in henna first to see if I really like having ink on my wrist.

I like the idea of before/after pics but I'm not sure I'm that brave. Mom_2_3, you are beautiful! I've heard that the best thing for the rear view are squats... I personally HATE them but I do feel the burn when I do them so I suppose that means they are working.

On a related note (and I think I might start another thread to ask others who aren't here) has anyone tried using the bean? We get LTD at work and they have it w/ all the videos for something like $50 and I'm wondering if it's worth it. I've tried and like the balance balls and it looks like it works like those on it's ergonomic.

Mom_2_3; I drink coffee and regular coke.. there are also these great "sodas" called Izze.. they're actually carbonated water and fruit juice, about a 1/2 and 1/2 mix.. but they're really good. As far as the coke goes, I try to limit myself to one a day. Most of the time, this works, but I'm not totally strict about it.. honestly, though, I drink other things too so Coke is just usually a side kick to my dinner. With either that or coffee.. I just try to drink about as much water as I drink of the coffee/coke.. over and above what they recommend (Weight Watchers, which is what I'm on now, sort of.. recommends six 8 ounce glasses a day). I think.. Anyway, what I did was went and got a "water" bottle from starbucks. They have them with the ounces notched on the side, and the one I have holds over 32 ounces, so if I drink two of those a day, I figure I'm almost there on catching up with the coffee/coke. I don't know what's right or wrong.. that's just what I do. I think coffee is a diuretic, and I know regular tea definitely is. Oh, and I'd heard that if you don't drink enough water.. it can make you tired. I do have to say that I haven't been as tired since I've been on WW and trying to drink more water.. but ..I've also kept myself moving when I got home, doing things like picking up the house a bit, and getting the cats' food ready, etc. So, I can't definitely attribute it to the water.

Post here as often as you want! That's what we're here for.

I am a WATER A HOLIC! I really put it away not because of force but I LIKE water over all other drinks BUT I tend to bloat or be TOO hydrated lolol I drink over 160 oz of water a day! Water gets old though and I try to spruce it up with fresh fruits etc in it but still when you drink THAT MUCH water it does tend to get old fast!

Thanks about the squat tip...thats alot of my problem though is I used to do ALOT of squates and lunges and well I have really made problems worse lolol My booty and thighs are HUGE now...those pics up there are about 1-2 months old and well sad to say but my thigh muscles really took to the squates and lunges and now they are BIG AND MUSCULAR lolol and I cant get rid of the darn things!

I still have a nice figure and even a pretty decent stomach after 3 kids and gaining so much weight but my problem with losing too is I havent a SINGLE stretch mark from having children...but now that Im big and starting to LOSE weight I have already gotten a few invisible ones that you can only see if you look real close. So does this mean in order to lose weight, be thinner and healthy I have got to gain stretch marks!?? YIKES cant win for losing can I lolol!

I have people telling me all the time I dont look my weight or they dont believe I weigh what I do. Its hard though when your mom is 5'1 and 115 lbs, my sister is 5'8 130 lbs....and all the females of your family look like THEM! I stick out at a family get together needless to say!

My endurance and flexibilty are like a thousand times better than they were 2 weeks ago! And I've been drinking more tea rather than snacking and eating after dinner!

I still need to work on the eating out (and therefore also the eating whole grains and veggies) thing, but I am starting to eat just a tad less. baby steps, right?

I think every week I acheive my goals is a week I go to Lush and buy myself a fancy shmancy bath
