Hehe, twsty..my mind is all over the place regardless of whether I'm excited or not!
Whole wheat or .. like the spinach pasta is really good, but I don't know how well the tomato/spinach pasta is on fiber content. The whole grain/wheat is much better for fiber, I think.

I loooove whole wheat pasta, I've heard lots of people say they don't like it cuz of the texture
I got so used to it that regular pastas texture feels funny to me!

Well here is my hurdle. Today at work while I was standing behind the demo stand, next to the wine department. I looked over and saw......my ALL time favorite wine has come back. We had it for a short time at Christmas, it was aone time buy so it was suppose to be gone buy now. Well apperently some more was found in the warehouse and sent to us. We are going to get it everyday now for the next couple of weeks. We are selling it at 1.99, normally it goes for 6.99. Corpret just wants the stuff gone. It is the best wine I have ever had, I love it more than food. I called my DH and had him come in and buy one bottle of the red and one of the white. I have already had half a bottle of the white. I stopped there but want more. We talked about it and have said we will buy a case of each when I get paid again next week. Just so I have it. I don't want people to say not to buy it because it really is special and soooooo good. I just need some back up so I don't polish it all off in one week. I have no self control in that area. I don't know I guess I just needed to get it out. Now that I read this I think I can be good and not screw everything up. This was the first wine we invested in ever when we had it a few months ago. I think I just need reasurance that I can have a glass but not the whole bottle.
Thank you for reading this completely useless rant. I really want to change my ways. I am glad you guys are here. This is the first of many battles I am sure I will come up against in this whole challenge. Boy this is alot harder than I thought it would be.
Boy - I can relate with the drinking! I love my wine, and actually factored the points into my WW. But, I haven't had a drink in 10 days, because I realized that I would rather use my points on the yummy foods that I want - like TGIF frozen chx chimichangas and nacho potato skins! Obviously I don't eat that way daily, but it is nice to enjoy those little goodies!
Also, I do sleep better when I don't have anything to drink.
And finally, I know that alcohol (because of my age) slows down my metabolism!
PS I am not saying I am giving up drinking - I guess I will save it for special occassions!

Next time we go shopping I'm gonna get some. I have a feeling that if he gives it a chance he'll like it.

I always buy WW pasta now. I also tend to but sweet potatoes instead of regular ones. I hear they have better health benefits.

No gym for me today most likely. I get to sit in grad school classes for 5 hours now that work is over. ugh. I might need to try out some of those seated exercises. Those look great!!

What I like about the seated exercises I linked is that they seem to focus on strength. I want to tone my body as much as I want to lose the weight. Actually, if I was in shape and toned I'd be ok weighing as much as 175 which isn't that far off right now. Actually, on that note I'm gonna take a short exercise break.

One of the ways I found that I'll drink more water is if I put a cup right next to the sink.. then every time I use the sink, I see the glass, I drink, refill it and it's ready for the next time. Now.. that being said, I drink room temperature water, and for instance, this wouldn't work for my sister who is an ice fanatic. She hates water and will not drink it at anything less than just above freezing because supposedly it changes the taste of it. Personally, I don't get it, but.. I won't dispute it, lol.

So, I did my weigh in this morning, and I was up .8 pounds.. which was not nearly as bad as I expected, given that I didn't drink as much water as I should have, and I was not eating healthy. I'm just slow to get onboard with all the changes. So far today, though, I'm good on points.

I backslid last night. There was a family disagreemnt, and when I get upset, Krispy Kreme calls out to me and I console myself with... well, last night I held it down to four doughnuts, which is an improvement over the usual.

Also in my defense, let me add that I had them yank these doughnuts off the line before they reached the frosting waterfall, and I sprinkled some Splenda over them instead of the frosting. So I still got the fat, but at least I didn't spike my blood sugar as high as it would have been.

And today, I still weigh 223! I even checked on a different scale, and it's real! And I will not let go of it -- I'm making up for last night by being extra-good today, and a good long walk will be had this evening as soon as it cools down...

Well, I slipped a little last night too. Just bored again so after a nice dinner (1 shrimp eggroll and a cup of egg drop soup) we split a bag of extra butter popcorn and I had 2 small slices of Amish friendship bread... which if what I found is right ammounts to something like 350 cal and 18g fat for both slices!

So, today I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast and I've got the rest of my soup for lunch. I've got some beef jerkey in my bag if I need a snack later and I'm resolved to walking at least a half hour in my campus activity center.

Carol,

One of the things that our "coach" told us all yesterday, because most of us had a not as good as normal weight week, was.. the only meals that matter are the ones that you have yet to eat. Which is true, really. And, it puts a positive spin on.. oh my god, I really did bad on that last meal...

Also, and I'm not trying to preach here, but I just wanted to ask if you had been drinking lots of water... I find that if I eat the same number of calories with water, I actually lose weight faster.. because it helps "flush" it out or something. It's after, of course, I've lost the water weight, but it does really make a difference. I tried dieting without drinking as much water (I was being a slacker) and it didn't work nearly as well. I was dropping maybe half a pound a week, whereas with the water, I was consisently dropping about three or four per week.

Anyway, another thing I've heard that works is completely changing your diet for a week..which supposedly just sort of "shocks" your system and starts a weight loss. I'd also heard this works for exercising.. if you're used to walking, try something like.. hmmm, doing a fairly easy aerobic workout, or.. maybe walking uphill, or downhill.. or if you can manage it, jogging for one minute intervals.. iow, they just say switch it up because your body gets used to a certain way and then adapts to it so you don't reap the same benefits as you do if you change it up all the time.

So, anyway, maybe try changing it up a little.. but regardless of the donuts..keep your chin up and just think about what you're going to do in the future, which is prevail!

Well, I thought I'd sent some goals in, but this new Internet Explorer gets me kinda confused, LOL. So I would like to lose at least 5 pounds before my surgery on May 8. I'm using my crutch now, and able to walk more, and more normally, and I'm focusing on using my legs "correctly". I'm also getting into drinking water, and cutting out the nightly drink!

Hey all
,

I know I'm a little late to this thread, but I thought what the heck

I have a lot to loose and I did very well last summer, but through this past semester of school, I stopped going to the gym and starting eating really badly. I know I'm a stress eater and when I'm board. Those are my triggers.
I've given up almost all fast food (aside from the occassional pizza) and it's been just over 7 months since I've had my biggest vice, Tim Hortons (all you Canadians know what I'm talking about!) I haven't had most of the other fast foods for around 4-5 months. I stopped drinking regular soda last summer and switched to diet, non-cafine pepsi as a treat.

My goals are:

No eating after 8pm
Drink atleast 64 oz or 2 liters of water everyday
Calorie range 1500-1800 cals perday.
Measure all foods (I'm bad for just guessing).

I have a question for you all. What do you eat for lunch at work?
DH is wants to lose weight (YAY) by July. I know he is over 200 and was 180 when I met him. He prefers to do cardio, legs & arms at the gym & eat high protein food. He had tuna yesterday but couldn't eat it all. I think he ate too much of it in the past that it makes him sick now. Today he wanted to get a grilled chicken salad. I know he will get bored of that fast. Any ideas?

Dinner will be the hardest on us since I love my potatoes & can't afford to lose weight. When it comes to healthy food we differ a lot! Mom used to be on South Beach diet and the wheat pasta was killing me. So I am looking for some ideas to see if there are things we both like.

Heather, thank you so much for those excellent ideas! I really appreciate that. I do drink a lot of water, have for a long time because I'm diabetic, so I'm always thirsty. But recently, I'd started replacing some of the water with Lipton's Diet Citrus Green Tea (bottled), because I thought the tea content might be good for me. Instead, it seems to have caused some problems for me, including some extreme skin sensitivity -- but I won't know for sure if it was the culprit until I see whether it clears up now that I've quit drinking it.

Anyway, I don't know whether that bottled tea is significantly different, dieting-wise, from water... do you?

Crazy -- back when I was working, I got into the habit of keeping some apples and a jar of Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter (refrigerated) at work. At lunchtime, I'd just peel the apple, cut it into big chunks, and dip them into the peanut butter. So easy, and such a healthy, satisfying lunch, all fiber and protein (even better if you don't mind eating the peel)! I'm trying to reestablish that habit here at home right now...

They say that as long as it is not caffeinated, pretty much any drink can be classed as liquid, but water is slightly better and you are not adding more cals etc.
I have acquired a taste for strawberry kiwi propel water so I count that in my daily water intake, extra calcium and vitamins and only 15 cals a bottle
