Yeah its a serious problem now! My fatty has a huge problem! No matter how many times I pull him from her dish and tell him no and place him in front of his dish... he still goes back to her food! Its kitten food whats so great about it? Wish he'd go after wet food like that!

Indeed I do! Gonna finish his bag though since it is expensive! I bet if I put him on regular he wouldn't tamper with Nollee's food so much!

Old Mother Hubbard's Wellness line has cat food wet and dry not sure where the facts that they only carry dog products came from?
I think you may have missed one of my posts - I said that Old Mother Hubbard made a separate brand of dog food and biscuits that is marketed under the Old Mother Hubbard brand. This is their original company. Wellness is their newer brand - and it appears that alot of us are feeding this to our cats. As soon as I speak to the company regarding where their suppliers buy their wheat, I will post some answers. I hope it is all good food news because both of my girls are picky wet food eaters and they both seem to love the Wellness brand.

It's either that or enroll Paisley in Feline Overeaters Anonymous.

Good luck with Tiger!

Tiger is a challenge! He is teaching my Nollee his naughty tricks! She now makes the door stops (those noisy old school coil ones) fling back and forth by pulling it with her mouth... Tiger taught her that! He also taught her how to get into the cupboards, attack feet, get into the tub, and on the counters! My fatty is a bad influence lol!

I just left a message @ Old Mother Hubbard, so hopefully I will get a call back. This is what I am going to ask them:
Does Menu make any of your foods at all?
Have you verified that your US/Canadian suppliers didn't/don't import from China?
Is there any wheat/gluten in your wet cat food?
Can anyone else think of something I should question them about?

I understand that the main worry may be their (Wellness/OMH) integrity, in regards to their statement about "Canadian" wheat and whether or not it really originated in Canada...HOWEVER, if I'm not mistaken, the only grain in any of their WET foods is rice, found in the fishy flavors. Maybe we're talking about dry food, though...I'm not sure, it's all so confusing.

ETA: The turkey, chicken, and beef/chicken canned Wellness food is grain free...there are a couple more, and then the fishiest ones have rice, and that's it.

My teeth hurt just thinking about the metal door stops -ouch! Have you seen the little plastic coils? I call them cat slinkys. I will try to find the brand name for you - but there are 2 versions. One is a wider coil (Mollie likes those) and one is smaller - really does look like a plastic "spring". Sophie, who is the most difficult cat to please when it omes to toys, absolutely adores the skinny coils - she pushes them all across my floors and when she hits a rug, picks it up and carries it back to where she started!
I found them at Pet Quarters and Petco! Have fun!

Canned Wellness is a significant part of my cats diet. I don't worry about the small amount of garlic. But because I know no cat food is perfect I alternate this with other brands of wet too and I feed a different dry food. Variety is the spice of life.

My guys love it. They get the canned a couple times a week and the dry is available for them all day long.

I spoke to Wellness today and was told that their canned food in made in the Menu Foods Kansas plant...
a plant that made recalled cuts & gravy.
Wellness was not recalled.

Wait I am confused? So they do use Menufoods? Why wouldn't wellness be recalled if they were one of the brands that used it? I use the dry formula but I want to make sure my kitty gets only good food that won't make his little self sick

They used the Menu Food factory...
not their food.
If you are confused....
please call Wellness and ask questions until you are clear about it.
You kitties are depending on you.
Good luck

A pretty good percentage, I'd say easily 95% of canned cat food in the US is made AT a MENU foods facility. The only WET foods that were recalled were Menu-made, "cuts and gravy" types with wheat gluten in them.

Apparently canning your own food just isn't cost effective when you can have MENU do it for you. There are a few exceptions....there's a thread here with the short list of non-menu manufactured canned cat foods. Just because canned Wellness is made at a Menu plant does not mean that Wellness is bad food, although many are avoiding any menu made foods...and I understand their concern.

MOST DRY food is made by the individual companies, in their own facilities, Wellness included. Dry food is a totally different story, when it comes to manufacturing.

Personally, I do understand the concern about MENU made canned food...although I just can't find enough good things about dry food to consider going back to feeding it, after I struggled to get away from it.
Just my opinion...hope it might help.

Personally, I'm just trying to stay very aware of what the facts are, and I'm avoiding wheat gluten...as that is *supposed* to be the contaminated ingredient. Do we know for sure? Not really.
