my cat tony has a difficult problem that needs imetiate help.

he gets intimate with one of my blankets!!!

he drags it into his bed and... you know the cat thing. HOW CAN I GET HIM TO STOP BEFORE I HAVE TO BURN THE BLANKET???

Ah, well... has Tony been neutered? If not, there's your answer.

But if he has been neutered, and not too recently... then you have a more difficult problem. And you're probably going to need a new blanket...

Does Tony like catnip? If so, you might try giving him a large, soft catnip pillow with a surface similar to that of the blanket he's, um, fallen in love with (or you might even sacrifice the blanket to make such pillows for him). Then you can gently redirect him to the catnip pillow when he becomes... amorous. With consistent redirection, he should eventually refocus his attentions...

Hahaha, I love how you explained Tony's little problem. I had a friend whose cat had a "favorite" stuffed animal toy. He was even neutered and still did that! I'm not sure if there is anything you can do other than keep the blanket away from him or get rid of it. They would always put the toy in the closet, it was one of the daughter's toy....that WAS her favorite toy!!!

A-ha!
I have asked many people the same thing as my neutered male likes to hump my leg at night.
But I have just been reading a book called Cat Confidential by Vicky Halls and it`s brilliant! The gist of what she has to say is that neutered males are the worst offenders and they usually use a peice of clothing or a cuddly toy. Apparently it is a symptom of an underlying problem such as frustration, boredom, conflict or anxiety. In the absence of any other coping stratergy it can be extremely rewarding.
It also says distraction with play is the best thing.
Hope that helps a bit

Sorry, I found that hilarious, sitting in the lounge relaxing, in strides Tony, heads toward his 'favorite' blanket, and the fun starts there!!!!

I hope my little Al doesn't start getting jiggy with the soft furnishings!!!!
