I just posted in the Corn Storm thread in response to your post.

My kitties don't eat WB but they do lick their feet when they get out.
I think any thing is better than ingesting clumping clay.
Imagine what that does when they lick their fur.
Scary.

If Luxor doesn't pee or poop outside of the litter box...
you may be able to switch faster.
Please don't give up.

in the other thread i posted that he just had a little taste

i started this thread because i couldn't get him to stop 'sampling' he wasn't having mouthfulls but enough to worry me that he'd get a piece of clay?

no one has used that box yet. it's 1/2 and 1/2 WBCL and clay.

I found that when I got to the half & half point....
I might as well just change it all out.

The WB clumps much better when there is no A&H in it.
If Luxor has had litter problems in the past and might reject all WB....
that might be a problem....

One other thing you might try is a box of A&H and one of WB.
Hide the A&H....but have it handy in case they reject the WB and need to go.

If you have any doubts about Luxor eating to much WB...
call the company and ask for ideas and how much is safe to eat.
I had a cat who loved corn on the cob.
You might have a corn lover on your hands.

i hope corn isn't something he's allergic to. we are going through testing right now to figure out why his allergens are elevated. he has always had litterbox problems. it just seems some days he doesn't feel like pooping in the box. i was hoping to try the WBCL to see if that texture was ok. he itches so much and i can feel his dry skin AND we give him salmon oil. I am concerned that he's allergic to the A&H.

He could be having a reaction to the fine particles in A&H that have worked their way into his coat.
They are very drying.....
kind of like cement.

Hi Everyone. I'm new here but found the topic of WBCL of interest. I like this litter and use it for my kittens. But as frequently as I clean it, I don't particularly like the odor from WBCL, but I deal with it. Someone recently told me that Blue Seal makes this egg crumbles mixture that they use for litter. They said it's actually a chicken feed??? They said it's just like WBCL and is even clumping, and surprisingly the cost is a mere $10 for 50 pounds. Has anyone else ever heard of this chicken feed being used as cat litter and whether or not it is safe?

that's what i was thinking.

i eliminated the wellness out of his diet and changed him to NB venison and pea per sharky and saw some improvement in his itching but not all that much. we tried adding raw in in hopes of switching him over completely (we still haven't gone that step yet) and his itching hasn't changed.

I'd say after switching off wellness it reduced his itching about 30%

Just a crazy idea, but how about adding some of that cat attract litter to your extra "test" box (with the WBCL). Maybe that would make him want to poop in there instead of eating the corn. ??

Or another nutty idea...what about purposely putting a piece of his poo in the WBCL ? I've done that with kittens to help them figure out where to poo...I don't see why it might not help.

Junior is a corn lover, I can see that this litter probably wouldn't work for him.

I guess I was lucky, but I just put out another box with WBCL and sprinkled a handful of Tidy Cats on top (in case he didn't know what the corn stuff was for). Stan just started using the box. I don't know if he sampled it, but I figured with two other boxes available, he would just use one of the others if he didn't like the corn litter.

I'm thinking I'll try the regular chicken feed if I can find a place to buy a big bag of it. So far the WBCL does seem to help with the sneezing.

I felt the same way about dumping out good litter.
But I am glad that I did....
One more thing...
When I first used all WB and my kitties got into the box, their feet sank.
It took them a while to get used to the new light weight texture but they finally did ...
with no accidents.

Another thing I really like about WB is that I am not risking my back when pick up the 17lb bag.
