Hi all,

Today I begin spring term of school. I work then head to night classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I'll be out of the apartment from around 9am-ish until 10pm-ish.

Daphne is about 8 weeks old and will be closed in the bathroom all that time. Will this be detrimental to her in any way? She has litter box (which she uses faithfully), water, food, toys and bedding in there. I don't think she and Sebastian are ready to be left alone for that length of time.

I feel so guilty and she isn't making it better. Lying here looking at me with sleepy kitten eyes like she just wants to cuddle all day.

Let me know if you think she will be okay? Or what other options there may be?
Thanks!

As long as she has food to nibble on and a water bowl that can't be tipped over and the litter box, AND some small balls/toys to play with she will be fine. Don't forget the kitty bed too

BTW how long have you had her? 8 weeks is still young to be away from mom/siblings. The crutial time of socialization with other cats is 8-12 weeks old.

Hey! I just wanted to put in my opinion and my situation... Well, I leave my PHX alone from 6:30 AM from anywhere between 3pm-5:30pm. Also, I leave him home alone for the whole weekend when I go to Mexico or out of town for the weekend. Which I only do like once a month. I will let you know though, that he is NOT happy
when we leave him home alone. But I think if there is more than 1 cat, they should be fine because they have eachother to play with. But I don't recommend leaving your two cats together if they haven't "bonded" yet. You need to get them comfortable with eachother before you just leave them. Good luck!

I understand - there wasn't a lot of choice when she would be given away. If I didn't take her, someone else was going to. Picked her up last Tuesday and the vet said she was right about 8 weeks then.

I had her out in the main area of the house most of the weekend with my older cat. Not sure he will teach her what she needs to know best, but between us, we'll do our best.
He definitely keeps an eye on her. When I can't find her, I just look to where he is staring and there she is

She has all those goodies plus a little stuffed chipmunk she likes and one of my sweatshirts I wore this weekend with her in the bathroom. Hoping she will be okay. Thank you

Seems she might have a good older brother
That's why I like the boys better - they seem to be more accepting to newcomers

Hi
Congratulations on your new addition! I got my 2nd cat, DeeDee, at 6 wks old when my male resident cat, Palas, was 4 mos old. There was some friction for awhile with Palas, the resident male, hissing, growling, and batting at DeeDee's head. So, I also had to leave her in the bathroom when I wasn't home. I don't know if it was just the way she was or if it had to do with the cold she had or if they just sleep alot at that age, but she slept ALOT. So I wasn't really too worried with her having to stay in the bathroom as she would whine for a bit then fall asleep on the bed I made for her.

When I got home, I made sure to let her out but leave the door open so she could find her safe place and Palas too could go in and smell her bed and her litterbox to get used to her. Of course most of the time DeeDee was out I spent rescuing her from an annoyed Palas. But that only lasted less than 2 weeks.

Hope this helps.
