No particular reason for posting - except that I've spent the day at a cat show and it's just brought home to me how much I love cats. All cats
Aren't they just gorgeous? I saw some beautiful cats - from the magnificent maine coons (and there were 2 maine coons there that was absolutley magnificent - I've never seen cats that big before!) to the orientals who were equally stunning. And of course there was the household pet section (won by a beautiful black and white female).

It's also a year to the day since I brought Mosi home from his breeder and he's curled up beside me so contetedly. Jaffa is asleep on the bed looking very chilled out and contented too. People who don't like cats are really missing out!

So, like I said - no particular point to this post except to raise my glass to CATS! And to thank my beautiful boys for letting me share their lives. I love you, boys
I don't think I've slept through the night since I've had Mosi but I don't care - he's adorable

Over the river and through the woods...
Yeah, cats are wonderful! I would LOVE to go to a cat show, but I have never seen one advertised around here. Maine Coons are incredible! We had a few of the barn cats go into heat recently, and we had a HUGE tom come around for a few weeks ago. He was the BIGGEST cat I had ever seen! At first I thought he was a dog...his head was twice the size of my hand. But, he was the friendliest cat, just purring his big head off when he was being petted. Are Maine Coons a specific color? Because he was black and white (mainly white with black markings). I haven't really done alot of research on them, but this cat had to have some huge breed in him. We have some big barn cats, but nothing like that!

Glad you had a good day. Cat shows are fun, the only trouble is I always come home wanting at least one more cat

Wishing I were anywhere but here
That's awesome! I would also love to go to a cat show. I wonder if we could show any of our persians. I bet Maya would be a good candidate. Her hair isn't too long or short and is actually different from the other two. She is just a little on the chubby side though....lol
Remember, the game show network is televising a cat show tonight. At 7/6 eastern/central time.

God, I love cats!!!! I love all animals, but cats are just more special--maybe it's their sinuous movements, their patterns, and of course, their "Up yours!" attitude.
I often think about my "kids" all days while at work, and realize just how much I adore them. And I count myself lucky to have found a man who is just as nutty as I am about cats. I honestly think our cats make our marriage even better. We're childless, so the cats are our babies. I often hear hubby telling the cats that he loves them. I just couldn't imagine life without them. The funny thing is, after 3, we kept saying, "No more--we have more than enough right now!"--and then we'd come across some poor needy cat, and always could manage to find room for one, or 4 more. (Though, I think 9 is plenty right now--seriously...). If we had our wish, we'd sell the house, buy a much larger one, with a fenced-in yard, with room to safely roam, and I'd quit my job to care for the dozens of strays/abused cats we'd take in. The house would be cat-friendly, with special, bright, clean and cheery areas for them.s They do make a ton of extra housework for me (each week, the cannister on my vacuum yield enough fur to make a large cat), lots of extra laundry, etc.--but I love 'em anyway!

Cats--you can't have just one!

Me too! I am very fortunate that my husband also loves these little critters. We have enjoyed going to the cat show. I think I've been 4 times and my DH 2. It's fascinating how some breeders are so snooty they look at you really nasty for even eyeballing their kitties and others are very open and want to show off their beautiful cats all dolled up for the show. These breeders are worth talking to!

Favorite breed: Birman
Favorite breed of DH's: Egyptian Mau

I'm always extra thrilled at work when we get these big burly men in who want another cat because theirs passed away and they get all misty eyed thinking about their kitty buddy and they almost always say "i didn't think I liked cats but then I got _________ "

My boyfriend didn't think he liked cats 'till I started fostering and then we got fat Harriet and he LOVES her.

They're great animals. Pleasantly different.

I LOVE cats I think I identify more with them than any other animal they just match me. And who couldn't love such beautiful animals.
And I thank God every day for my Tavia.

I need a mansion to accommodate the breeds I want one of! I saw an adorable blue Abysinnian so now I'm desperate for a blue somali. I think my next cat is going to have to be a show quality blue somali.

Jaffa is my first cat and I didn't have cats as a child (had a dog and the usual hamsters, goldfish etc) and until I got cats I always thought of them as independent animals who kept themselves to themselves. I didn't realise how loving and affectionate they could be.

Which show did you go to? I must try to get to some more, although I intend to be going to one in June to meet up with Sonic's breeder, she'll be showing her fawn oriental girl, they get championship status in June and it will be that girl's first championship class

I am like that about breeds as well, although with me it's the Cornish Rex and I am quite taking to the Balinese too, and Nate loves Burmese (he had one when he was younger) and likes the look and nature of Ragdolls. I'd like a show quality one next time I think. Mind you I have to convince him that we need another cat at all first, and that won't be likely to happen until Radar and Sonic finalise the 'negotiations' over which parts of the flat belong to whom

Radar was my first and I never considered myself a cat person before then for the reasons you gave. I was really dead set against getting Radar both before we got him, and for the first week he was with us! He drove me to tears but then I fell in love with him and I wouldn't be without him now. His antics would either make you fall in love with cats, or wish you'd never set eyes on one, fortunately I like a bit of excitement and warm to feisty creatures better than docile quiet ones!
