I just bought my kitties Purina One chicken.
Just when I got home, I noticed that it does have the wheat gluten!

I read that this one is on the safe list but after finding that it has this ingredient, is it still safe?
sorry for all the questions.

At this time it is not on the recall list but I agree with the others about not feeding anything with wheat gluten in it.

Yes...wheat gluten is the only suspect ingredient now. Corn gluten is from corn...so it's totally different.

So I guess that I will stick to my Hill Country Fare Dinnertime dry food, it doesn't contain the wheat gluten, only corn gluten.
I hope that they return it at Petco.
Thanks.

That would be the same, Susan. Nestle will probably tell you that your bag was produced in Europe, so there's no need to worry, but.... there's no guarantee that European producers haven't been importing wheat gluten from China, too.

crappola, I thought it was ok, I never read that far down on the ingredients. I just bought some today, and they have been eating out of the bag I bought before the recall. I also get the purina one for sensitive system and that does nothave wheat gluten. So I guess we will eat that and I will take the other bags back and get more sensitve system.

There was a news items in the paper today that Nestle was recalling some of their dry foods - sorry I can't remember exactly what right now, but it was in the Toronto Star this morning and I've already tossed the paper.

is Purina One Natural Blends + Vitamins and Minerals. I also didn't read that far to the bottom and that is where the wheat was. I only saw corn gluten and thought that it would be safe.

It is so frustrating trying to find something that is safe!

I just checked out the Purina site. Apparently, with the exception of ProPlan UrinaryTract Health Formula, all Purina One and Purina ProPlan dry foods contain wheat gluten. http://www.purina.com/ They haven't been affected by the recall, though.

Just an FYI, though....the canned Urinary Tract Health contains wheat gluten.
Here is a link to the ingredients.
