Black spots on tongue?

I just noticed that my 'mutt' cat of about 5 years of age has black spots on his tongue! Is this normal? He is almost completely black, and he has some black on the roof of his mouth as well, if that helps.

It can be normal, if it's just pigmentation. My torties have some black pigment in their mouths. If you're not sure it's always been there, then...well ask a vet.

Since none of us are vets and cannot see your cat, your best bet is to speak to your vet.
