Ohhhhhh gotta agree with some awesome movies that have been recommended already:

Children of Men
Little Miss Sunshine
Shawn of the Dead

And I don't think this one has been mentioned yet but:

Inside Man I LOVE this movie - could watch it over and over and over

I also love all of the M Night Shyamalan movies. I hate scary movies, but I like his kind of movies - the more thriller, edge of your seat type.

I liked Children of Men, but wished the ending was something else *shrugs*

I LOVE M.Night Shyamalan movies... I really enjoyed Lady in The Water.

300 (although I didn't actually want to watch it, Dh's pick) turned out to be soooooo good! I was throughly pleased

I'm an M. Night fan, too, but I haven't seen his latest film.

THE QUEEN Just an absolutely facinating study on the royal family, and what life is like living behind palace walls.

CHILDREN OF MEN I so wanted a different ending! But I still enjoyed it. We thought the set designs and filming was very realistic.

INSIDE MAN I will always love anything Denzel does. He's just fantastic.

I can't believe somebody saw Let's Go To Prison! My husband jokes about that film title all the time lol! Especially with the ads that had a hand reaching for a bar of soap. EEK!

If everyone could post a mini review (two or three sentences describing the film and why they liked it) that would be fantastic! We could have our own film review recommendations here!

I have to add American Beauty to the list.
I watched it, not expecting much.
It was funny, and sad all at once, couldn't tear my eyes away.

It doesn't help that I have a thing for Kevin Spacey

Like catwoman, favorte part is in the end when she walks off on top of the building talking about having power and a new life through the eyes of a cat. Clan of the cave bear. Favorte part goes like this in the end again. Ayla had spoken out for Creb because she loved him, Durc was of the clan and would one day be their leader, she must find her own people, she must walk alone, everything she had lived through had prepared her for this joureny and she was not afriad. Very insparational.

Junglebook. like the part in the end before they kiss, And listion well, and hear the call long life to all and to those who keep the jungle law, again very inspiring.

Duma, Aqurafenia. and Flicka, Call of the coyote is good to, I like the wild howls and the lirics.

Also like Pirates of the carbeian.

I'm sorry, but I simply could not stand Lady In The Water. The plot was too predictable and seemed terribly forced. It seemed like a sad sort of irony to me, that the movie itself proved the assertion of the movie critic within it... that "there is no originality left in the world."
But that's just me... and I loved some of M. Night's earlier work (Signs and The Sixth Sense, for example).

My list is never ending but I thought I would list some not so happy movies! Alot are druggie movies (no Im not a druggie) something I once related too and watching these movies makes me wonder what the hell I was thinking! If I had to pick a must see off of my list it would have to be American History X (with Edward Norton and Edward Furlong) so sad and disturbing!
I like those movies too. Some I haven't seen yet but that pretty much covers my genre. The Green Mile is so addicting. I can't turn it off.

It was absolutely a wonderful film. It follows an couple over 30 years of their lives, from an arranged marriage to the bride relocating with her husband to New York.

Very thought provoking and touching film.
Metropolis the original, not the one they dubbed rock and roll music on later. I love rock and roll by the way, it is just that the original score exactly matches the mood of the movie, which I consider to be the greatest movie ever made.

Did you realize the guy in the Namesake was from Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle?

I liked The Life Aquatic
(In case you don't know, Zissou's name is from the movie)

I highly recommend Friends With Money, don't know why, but it's my favorite movie even if I don't want it to be.

American History X is my favourite movie

Last film I saw was 300 and I'm still in two minds as to whether to recommend it or not. Also saw Jesus Camp and it scarred my mind

Anyone that hasn't see Don't Look Now (psychological thriller), Battle Royale (Japanese action movie) or Cube (nope, I'm giving no clues
) really should

Battle Royale is illegal in the US.
Or, not illegal--- but you'll never find it anywhere to watch it except copies bought in other countries or somewhere online. You can't just get it at Blockbuster

Forgot to add Land and Freedom from the last time we had a thread on movies. It's about the Spanish Civil War and really sad

I thought Battle Royale 2 was available with a lot of cuts but surely both films aren't banned

You edited quickly

I have to talk about 23 with Jim Carey in it. I thought it was pretty good. Jim Carey was convincing in a role that wasn't funny man for once. The story line was good with a nice little twist, however the ending could have been better.
