The difference in the two situations is that you were in control in this one. You made the decision to allow her to touch you. She did not take the liberty of doing so on her own. I feel VERY STRONGLY about this, can you tell?!

I never even touched my best friend's baby belly. I certainly wouldn't touch a stranger's baby belly! You were unbelievably nice, considering...

I felt like kicking but foot doesn't listen so I tired to run but lol we know I cant just waddled away lol. Trust me I was freaking so bad it was like a case of caught in the alley and ya want to scream STRANGER STRANGER which is what we where taugh as kids...

If you're in a public place, just start screaming for SECURITY and MANAGER. No, she had no right to touch you without your permission...its actually Harrassment and you can take it all the way to Sexual harrassment if you wanted to. Personally, I think you were being way too nice!

It doesn't have to be a guy to be sexual harrassment. All you need to claim is that she touched you in a place that is not generally PC to touch...like you arm or shoulder...and you have a sexual harrasment charge.

No I would've reacted the same way. How rude of her. It's like she's never seen a pregnant woman before, even though she has 5 kids? I can understand asking, but touching you was out of line. I wouldn't even do that to a friend, unless they were a very very very close friend.

that would freak me out. seriously. i have a large personal space bubble, and i don't like people in it (well, except the hubby). you were alot nicer than i would have been. things like "what the are you doing?" would have come out of my mouth.

i can't believe people think it's ok to touch pregnant women's bellies without permission! that is just messed up.

I can't believe you didn't hit her with your purse at the very least. I hate it when people touch me that I don't know. It freaks me out. I had a little kid with Turrets come up to me where I work and grab onto me once and I thought I was going to hyperventilate. His mom finally came over and got him away from me though and I was ok except I had to go and wash my hands, arms and everything that touched him. Moral of this story, if I don't know you, don't touch me.
You were so nice, I'd have told her to get lost. And when she touched you, if that were me, I'd have freaked out. Not a people person sorry to say.

Just adding my agreement -- you were absolutely justified! That woman was not only rude, but also very strange... and possibly dangerous.

On the other hand, I'm so glad you were able to encourage the woman at your doctor's office! That was a very nice thing to do.

By the way... Abby is such a pretty name! We have a rescued feral named Abby, after my maternal great-grandmother (she's Clyde's mom, delivered him and four beautiful brothers the night she was rescued at the shelter). I can hardly wait to see your little Abby!

I was talking to someone about this, and this is what have I decided...

If any stranger asks if they can touch my belly I'm going to ask if I can touch their backside first.

If anyone just reaches out and fondles my belly, I will just reach around and grab their backside.



If I get into conversation with someone and the baby's kicking, and they want to feel that and I'm comfortable with them, that's fine. And if I have close friends who want to rub my belly for good luck or anything crazy, that's fine too! But strangers touching me - I'll teach them a lesson and make sure they don't do it again

I find it very rude for people to just reach out to touch your baby/belly..I may do it to a friend of mine, but I would NEVER approach a complete stranger and do that...I would have yelled out "she's molesting me very loudly" and see her reaction to that...
