This is what I'm working on right now. Its a thank you card for my brother and his wife...not quite finished with it yet...

I darkened it a bit so y'all could see it a little better...couldn't see the ribbon bow in the other pic...and you can make out the 'portal' around it as well...

I've got to write a verse to go along with it before I send it out.

I have been making 'patchwork' cards with folded ribbon.

Oh, isn't that lovely! Whenever I've seen similar designs on say a quilt, I've always been mystified as to how on earth they got all those angles so perfe...er...puuurrrrfectly done! Now the mystery is solved!

Great job...thanks for posting that! Have you made others like this? I'd love to see them too!

All the one like that are pretty similar, because I bought a reel of the flowery ribbon at a craft exihbition. I usually do cross stitch cards, and I also bought some cats and have done a couple like this

I love all the cards everyone has done! For my parents' 50th anniversary and my niece's graduation from high school, I made them scrapbooks and I've been making my greeting cards for several years now.

Here's something else I've been making. It's hard to tell in a picture, but it's a 1-inch deep shadow box and I've made several of them using different pictures for quite a few people in my family.

Debs...that is wonderful! I imagine it makes a very thoughtful gift!

Here's a thoughtful gift, but not one that I made...this one was made for me. Some years ago, the hubby & I went out of town for about a week to the east coast, he had some phone systems to check up on. When we got back home, I found this most beautiful drawing on my pillow. Alex Jr took this neat paper...its silvery but has a layer of what appears to be black paint/crayon on it. When you make a mark on it, the black comes off, revealing the silvery colour underneath. He knows how much I love flowers...roses, so he drew this and used the lyrics to one of my fav Journey songs Send Her My Love. The inscription reads 'roses never fade'...its one of my favourite gifts ever from him...

I framed it in an old pewterish looking frame at it sits at my bedside along with other sweet gifts from him & Naomi...

That's beautiful, Hilda. I wish I had talent like that. I can put pieces of paper together in a scrapbook or shadowbox or card, but I can't draw a thing! It's really beautiful.

Probably at work :(
I like to make gifts, too. I just made my little sister a scrapbook of the pictures I had of her from birth to now--she's 15. A couple of months ago I finished cross-stitching a baby blanket for my cousin's baby. That took forever! I also like making cards.
