Kitten and Chewing

Hi,
I have an 8 month old kitten who has just recently started chewing on things. Specifically my wood banister. I dotn know why. SHe has always liked to bite as kittens do, which has actually gotten better. Over the past week or so though she has decided to started chewing on the wood. Why would she be doign this?

She's likely getting more of her adult teeth and found out the wood is chewy. It could even be because that's a favorite play spot now and it's convenient to chew. Maybe you cleaned the wood with something that smells or tastes yummy to her?

You can get bitter apply spray and use that on the wood to stop her from chewing, if that doesn't work maybe even covering it till she loses interest will help.
