Hi, I'm new here. About a month ago I found a sweet stray cat who I named Gracie. I realized shortly afterwards that she was pregnant. This morning my hubby mentioned that he thought she was lactating and then just a short while ago I noticed that she has some blood on the back of her. I'm assuming that this is like a bloody show? I have her set up in a room, but she doesn't seem to want to be in there. I have to go to work in a few minutes and was wondering if we might have kittens by the time I get home? I will only be gone for 4-5 hours, but a lot can happen in that time! Any advice is appreciated.

sounds like she could be losing her mucus plug , simillar to humans with a show lol. could be withen the next few hours or could be withen 48 hours , some have been known to go just over a week. just keep her as stress free as possible and its good that you have already got her set up , make sure she has all her food water and litter tray in with her. i dont know if your already doing this but have you started her on a good quilty kitten food yet? if no then slowly start her on that will be much better for her. good luck and keep us posted , any other questions just post them. also wanted to say welcome to TCS its a great site , and well done for taking in this little girl.

Hi and welcome to TCS - how wonderful that you were able to take in little Gracie

Things sound pretty close and she will go to the room when she is ready - have you provided a box or something similar ?

Well we are all here to help you, there are some very experienced members here, so if you have any questions, what ever they are, please feel free to ask

Keep us posted !

I'm back and nothing yet, and she doesn't act like she's in labor. I am worried about her. She has started sneezing and her eyes are watering. I think she may be coming down with something. Like being in labor wouldn't be enough. I'm hoping that it's allergies, but I may have to take her to the Vets to be sure. Is there anything they could give her that wouldn't affect the babies?

I have started her on kitten food several weeks ago and the room is set up with food, water, litter box and a place with blankets in the closet since the room is kind of bright. She doesn't want to be in there though.

I would take her to the vet... Especially cause she seems sick and you know she is pregnant and it sounds like she is due soon. The discharge from the back is a clue. There is nothing to give her while pregnant or nursing the vet would have to do that. Let us know what you decide and please keep us up to date on the details ok
