My computer at home decided to die on me, unfortunately.
I woke up monday morning, and the loungeroom fuse box was out, i turned it back on every appliance worked except for the computer, it just wont turn on!

I dont know whats wrong with it, i dont know what could have happened, all i know is that im going crazy not having the computer at home that works!!!!!

I think its time to buy a new computer, but that will have to wait for months!

I will miss you all!!

Ill be back in the near future i promise!

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Sounds like something shorted inside the computer. Are you using a surge protector? If so, try plugging the computer in directly to the wall. The surge protector might have shorted.

If you're not, then anything could have broken. It could be a power supply issue, a motherboard issue, etc. Electrical charges are nasty things that really mess with our computers.

I hope you can figure something out soon!! If I lived closer I'd offer to take a look at it. *shrug*

My laptop "died" 2 weeks ago - it ends up that it was Windows that sort of self destructed. I couldn't get my laptop to power up - it just kept shutting down. It is repairable - so maybe that could be what has happened to your computer. Good luck!

My computer was fried last summer during an electrical storm....even with a surge protector. My homeowner's insurance paid for a CPU...and I was able to re-use my monitor, keyboard, speakers and mouse. You should check with your homeowner's insurance to see if they would cover anything. Can't hurt, and you might be suprised!

This has happened to me several times. If your computer is plugged into a surge protector that is then plugged into the wall, you will find a switch on the surge protector that needs to be flipped off and then back on. This has always got me back up and running and I hope it does for you.

Too bad, Fran. I hope it's something minor, and you don't have to replace your computer. If you do, you should check the newspapers/pawn shops (Pfandhäuser) for a used one to tide you over - a lot of people upgrade, and then don't know what to do with their old ones, so they're often dirt cheap.

Sounds exactly like what happened with mine a few weeks ago. Turned out to be the power supply. Not an expensive fix, as long as nothing else (motherboard, CPU) was taken out by the dying power supply. Good luck.

Yes, if you have your computer plugged into a surge protector, look for a button on the power bar and turn it on. It's a safety switch like a blown circuit breaker in your home.

Also, try plugging your computer into a different wall outlet and see if that works.

If you have zero power to your CPU tower and it won't turn on at all, then it could be a power supply which are pretty cheap, usually under $100.00, and often far less.

The only other major thing that I can think of is that it's your motherboard, but even if it were your motherboard you should still have power to the CPU... lights turning on...but you won't be able to get your computer up and running.

I know its not the mother board, my computer died back in 2004 and my then bf fixed it. Infact a couple of weeks ago my friend came around to look at my computer and he told me it all looks ok! I am still waiting for him to reply... I think i may have to call him!

Im at work now, just done teaching ah! I miss my computer and music at home!
