I have a kitten! Haven't named her, only known her for about 90 minutes.
Someone placed an ad, when I called (not sure why I did!), they told me their next door neighbors, an elderly couple, have a stray cat who comes around and they feed her. This is the 3rd litter she has had at their place. When I asked why she hasn't been spayed, they told me the couple didn't have much money. These neighbors took the kittens to help find a home for them. The neighbors don't have much themselves.

When I got there, I offered to keep in touch and possibly take the momma cat to get spayed. I don't have much in the way of money but I cannot let that poor cat keep cranking out the kittens. I will find a way.

Anyway, this kitten was there with two others. I wanted them all! I hope the other two find good homes. They told me she is 8 weeks. I wanted to ask them to wait but I knew it would do no good. They wanted homes for the kittens now. I probably shouldn't have taken one (sighs) but when you see this face, you'll understand.

Seb has an appointment to get his teeth cleaned tomorrow morning, so will take this baby in to be looked at, too. I feel my bank account shrinking already. She looks healthy, clear eyes, ears good, fur is clean. May have fleas, but Seb was just treated so he should be okay. He goes bald with fleas so have to keep him treated.

I am pretty sure they will not find a chip or a spay scar on this little one
I do hope Seb learns to love her.

I know I am rambling - don't know why I get so nervous over getting a new cat - sheesh!

Here is a photo - will post more when I have a name

Thank you. She hasn't been socialized much so I will be learning how to do that. Right now she is hiding in a closet. Poor thing.

Thank you so much. I had misgivings about a kitten when there are so many others who are older that need homes. How does anyone ever decide on just one? I worry about her being too much for Seb but hope and pray they get along.

awe...was she socialized with her siblings? Awe poor baby
Stormie was outgoing! Bella I do believe was socialized with humans and thats it, But when stormie came her "mothering" instinct kicked right in, now tho shes so stubborn and just loves her mama (my arms/shoulder/chest can prove that) But I think shes gonna need time to get used to her new surroundings, pretty soon she will be the outgoing kitten she is supposed to be

yep she is cute. 8 weeks may be a little young, but at least she will have a good home.

man u post fast
but its hard to decide on one, and when I got stormie that was my first kitten u know I wanted a playmate for bella and bella was very playful so I thought a kitten would suit her, and well when we got blue we came home with blue and tessa
it is really hard to choose just one luckily when we went to get stormie my mom was there because there was another kittie the lady was getting rid of that was just too cute and an all black one but my mom had finally agreed to the kitten
and well we couldnt explain 2 at that time to my dad! And stormie had made it 4 cats, but stormie and bella were just mine anyways

How nice of you to offer the spay. And the new kitten looks very cute. Yeah, it will take several weeks for Seb and the kitten to get used to the situation, but I'm sure it will work out, if the introductions aren't too abrupt. AT 8 weeks, I'd keep the new one in a separate room for a week or so, and keep the surroundings simple, and so the cats can get used to each other's smell. That gradual process pays dividends.

You will find a way to pay for all this. You did good.

Oh, she's just a cutie-patootie!!! I can see why you just had to bring her home with you!!! That little black spot by her nose is just precious!!! I have such a soft spot for calicos!

Be sure to work hard to socialize her. Maggie was only 8 weeks old when I got her, and she's the most neurotic cat I've ever met. There isn't an electrical cord or fingernail file in this house that hasn't been destroyed by her. Some days, I just want to grab a pair of pliers and rip all her little teeth out! Instead, I just invest in corrugated cord covers (very attractive, if I do say so!) and new nail files every time I want to file my nails. I love her to pieces though, even with her faults, lol!

What a cutie! You have done a really nice thing by adopting this little one. Maybe you could work with a shelter to try and trap the mother cat (if she is feral). Then they can do the spaying and maybe even place her. Good luck with your little one!

Thanks everyone! Your support is amazing

I slept for about 4 hours - this will be a very long day. Vet, then work, then a lunch meeting, then more work, then vet, then home - yippee! Seb is cranky because he hasnt been fed in over 9 hours. Poor thing is gonna starve to death.

Baby kitty is all over the keyboard. I was so worried about her last night. She wouldnt sleep in the blanket box I made for her, she slept on the tiled floor behind the clawfoot tub. Seemed okay this morning - definitely has energy to try to type and crawl all over me. She only ate two bites of food last night and nothing this morning but she did drink water. Hopefully she will eat when she feels more comfy. Will see what the vet says.

Since this is now in Fur Pictures, I'll post a few more
