Wow, so soon? I'm sure it will feel like April will fly by.
Good luck with this, I hope you heal up fast and can get back to regular activities pain free!

Are they replacing?

Hope it goes well and uneventful, and that your recovery time is next to nil

Yay! In a few months, you'll feel so much better than you do now!

Don't forget to stop eating all refined sugar (fruit is O.K.) TWO WEEKS before your surgery. There have been lots of studies done about refined sugar causing lowered immune response. It's worth it because you will have less chance of complications and heal much faster. I'll be sending good thoughts and prayers!

Glad to hear that you have a sugery date scheduled.

I've worked in Ortho so I know you have quite the recovery period ahead of you, but in the end it will be worth it!

Thanks all for your well wishes!

I'm actually getting a resurfacing done. They will replace the cup, or socket, part of the hip joint with a shiny metal surface, and then just cap the femur, or ball, part of the joint with another slippery shiny surface so they will slide together smoothly. As it is rignt now, there's no cartiledge in there and it's bone sliding on bone. They are speeding up the process because I should have had it done a year ago, but was a big baby about going to the doctor!

I'm so glad it's going to happen so soon! I hope everything goes really well and you have a quick recovery.
Are you going to have to have physical therapy?

Yes, I'm sure I'll have to have some, because I can't really move my hip right now and haven't been able to in a year. So I will need some help getting it stretched out working. But it won't be anything like the last surgery - 12 weeks with crutches - this one is NO crutches. Like, wow!

I so totally can't wait. The other surgery was much worse, and I didn't really think it was that bad, so I'm sure this will be NBD. 42 days!

I'm glad you got that scheduled. In an interesting coincidence, there was an article in the Rocky Mountain News today about hip replacement with nice pictures so I now have an idea of what they are going to do. The people in the article really were happy with the surgery saying they didn't have pain anymore. I hope the same for you

DH and I wish you well (and we will be seeing you at your last concert of the season
)

Yes, I can't believe it worked out so well - I have three concerts 3 weeks in a row, and then my surgery 2 days after the final concert. It was meant to be!
