Has anyone ever been to a beauty salon and seen people smoke there?? The place I go to tan, get haircuts, etc lets you smoke!! I dunno, maybe its just me, but I think it is kinda odd....
The woman who owns the place smokes and thinks nothing of it in between hair cuts or what ever.

Is this odd? Or do you guys know of any place like it??

I have never seen anyone smoking in a beauty salon, and I don't think it's a good idea. If people want to smoke, they should step outside for a few minutes.

There used to be smoking at the salon I go to, but then the laws changed and there is no smoking allowed in any place of business anymore, not even bars.

The owner and his hairdressers all smoked, and back then I did too, so it didn't bother me. There was pretty much an ashtray at every chair. Ahhh...the good old days...

Nope. You can't smoke in public places here so thats not even an issue. You have to go outside to smoke.

I've never seen anyone smoking inside a salon here, only outside. I DID see some dimwit smoking a cigarette while pumping gas the other day when I stopped to buy a lotto ticket. What a tool!
One of the attendants had to go ask him to put it out (and not throw it on the ground)

I think that would be pretty gross. I hate the smell of smoke and if I went to a place like that to get my hair cut or styled, well there would be no point because I'd just want to go home and wash the smell off of me and out of my hair.

That is odd for sure..especially since it is no smoking in Ontario
I was shocked when we went to a restaurant in Michigan, and they said "smoking or non".

I think smoking in public is gross and rude. I don't care what someone does to thier own lungs, but don't make those around you have to breathe in your smoke.

That's sounds a bit odd to me. The last thing I'd want is to have my hair freshly washed and styled then leave with it smelling of ciggy smoke

That sounds really strange - at least by today's standards. I thought it was illegal (in most states) to smoke in publics buildings. Is the salon in her house? Maybe there a different guidelines for "small businesses"?

Here... or There... Hmmm
Don't know of a place that does that but it seems to defeat the purpose, you are trying to improve the look of your skin, hair, body, etc. To make you look better and all smoking does is ruin your teeth, breath, hair, skin, etc. To me it'd be like going to a Health food store that had it's employess eating Ho-Ho's at the counter and havig them all be 200lbs overweight! And giving out free Ho-Hos with every purchase!! Odd!

I'll put it this way- i would NEVER patronize a place like that which allows smoking- i'm sorry but when i go to the salon- it's to make me feel good/look good- not have the stinch of cig. especially if i've just had my hair washed/done. I do not want smoke on me!
I avoid places that allow smoking at all costs- i do not want second hand smoke- i am not a smoker- i don't want to be anywhere around it.Also- i have asthma which is very sensitive to smoke- i don't want to into a salon for a haircut and then come back out having an asthma attack and smelling aweful. Nope, not for me. Thankfully, all of the salons/spas/nail bars in the area are smoke free

Used to be that way, but I think in most states its banned. I don't care if the owner or anyone else smokes (their problem) but NOT when you are with customers! Who wants to go to a salon to get their hair washed, cut, etc. and come out of there smelling like a d*mn ashtray! If I walked into a place that allowed smoking, I would walk right out and go elsewhere!

IMO that is just plain rude - many people do not smoke now.

We are non-smokers and don't go to places with a lot of smoke - can't STAND it!

No smoking allowed in any public places in Maine either. In one town you are not even allowed to smoke in your car! I would not want to go have my hair done and have it smell like smoke. It sounds kind of dangerous also.Using hair spray with cigarrettes Kaboom!

Where I live it's against the law to smoke inside public places, or within so many feet of a public building.

All restaurants, bars, casinos etc are all smoke free places. It's very nice!!!!!!!!! They can't even have a smoking section anymore, not even outside on the patios.
