Taking Stray to Vet

Please help! We're adopting a stray cat that has been living in our shed. We brought her in yesterday and she's in our basement right now, separated from our other two cats. Here is the background if you're interested:

What I need to know is, what are the shots and tests that are necessary for her to get when I take her to the vet? Since she is a stray we know nothing about her. My vet has a history of trying to overcharge me. I will definitely pay for anything she needs but I want to make sure it is necessary. Thanks!

first and most importantly you need to get her tested for FIV and FeLV. FIV IMO is not an issue, you can mix negative and positive cats together, it is very difficult to pass this disease, it only happen thru mating and deep bite wounds, feLV is a very different story. next, for vaccinations, you need rabies and panleukopenia (feline distemper), rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and chlamydia, this is usually a combo shot. I personally don't really recommend the vaccine for either leukemia or FIV, leukemia is only 85% effective and the FIV one may make her retest positive. I would probably also get her wormed and put on a flea preventative. that's really it, in addition to getting altered of course.

FeLV/FIV test
Spay/Neuter(check to see if altered first)
Distemper Shot
Rabies shot
Flea preventative
Dewormer

Those are the things I'd have done!
