How did you cut the holes/diamonds in the tupperware so nicely?

I am sooo excited!!
I used one of these little tools here http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/hca/hcahcar0770.htm , it slices through the plastic nice and easily, and leaves fairly smooth edges behind

Trace is a kitty without a past
The leg was removed surgically, and was a really excellent job according to the vet. Someone spent a good deal of money on him to have it done. But, he was found on Cumberland Trace road (hence the name) as a stray. He was at the shelter for almost 4 months, scanned for a microchip, posted on petfinder, posted in the pet department at Target, and finally was a guest on the Humane Society Adoptathon. No one ever came looking for him.

So, a couple days after the adoptathon, he came here

i was wondering about the cutting, too. i made a feral shelter from a tub like that, and the exacto knife wasn't exactly the best tool for the job - better than the scissors, tho.
good job on the catopolis, & thanks for posting the tool link!

This is a fabulous idea! I am on a skinny shoestring budget and am always trying to figure out ways to keep the kits interested and happy. This is JUST what I need! Just need to make them fit in a tiny apartment and still have room for me. Thank you for sharing your creativity
Your cats are beautiful!

I ordered the hot knife, but in the mean time decided to build Cat Tower I out of boxes from Home Depot.

the second picture shows Soda and Seven relaxing together in the dark room on the bottom floor which can be seen in the middle of the bottom row (no windows).

This is great!
Is that duct tape? Does it hold together well? Does it take the cats' weight well? Sorry for all the questions!

I was thinking of doing something like this, but none of my boxes match
Would have to be a patchwork set-up.

Wow, great idea!!! My kitties LOVE cardboard boxes -- they'd think that was the worlds coolest toy!

Yes it's duct tape. It works better with extra-strong boxes, but I think some flaps (that they jump on more than others) will open eventually and will have to be repaired. But it's really funny to watch them stick their heads out the windows, sleep together in one of the boxes or chase each other around and through it. Cats sure do love tunnels.

We'll see how long this lasts. I ordered the hot knife in order to cut the plastic bins, but wanted to at least give them something in the mean time.

It's a really cool place to watch the birds.
I received a hot-knife in the mail today and built the cat condo tonight.

Thank you again for the pictures and information. Seven and Soda thank you too.
