Hi everyone, Dee Dee's kittens will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and they are thriving but i have a little concern. Although Dee Dee is still a fantastic mum she seems to spend more time away from the kittens and her feeds with them done seem to be for as long. Also she is crying to go outside alot now which of course worries me. She sits up on the window sill and cries when she sees me and just seems very restless. Do u think shes coming back into heat again?? If so i am worried as she can't be spayed for another 4 weeks can she?? Playing devils advocate here, if she did manage to get outside what are the chances of her falling pregnant again?? Sorry for all the questions. Her spay is booked in for the end of April.

Hi

She probably like all us females after giving birth, wants a bit of her own time away from those babies constantly craving her attention!!

I personaly think she just wants a little space. I cannot advice on her being in heat again or if she would get pregnant again if she went out, as I do not know the answers to that.

I hope someone can advise you as it must be horrible to see her like that

Take Care

Claire

Its not nice and a little stressful to be honest, the weather has been nice and now the clocks have gone forward the evenings are lighter for longer, a tiny part of me feels mean for keeping her in but of course the other choice isnt an option!! I forgot to mention that the dog won't leave her alone either, he keeps sniffing her backside and her tummy??

Yeah I can imagine her whole body clock is out, I know mine is with the clocks going forward!!!

Its a shame really because everyone is demanding her attention, including the dog!!lol I think she just wants to be left alone for a bit so she can be herself again, obviously that not always possible. I think maybe just phone the vet for advise and see what they say, if anything it will put your mind at rest.

she could well be going into heat . but as you know just make sure there is no way for her to get out side, she will start spending less time with the kittens as they dont need as often feeds as they get older . so less feeds but for longer. the dog smelling her is just a dog thing lol . plus he can probley smell her milk. the vets can spay her while she is nursing but they advise to wait untill she has stoped nursing. but if there is a worry for her getting out maybe you can speak to the vet for advice and see if he will spay her sooner. good luck.
also yes she can get pregnant if she was to mate now.

She definately could be in heat and she defiantely would get pregnant if mated. And yes, you can get her spayed now without detriment to the kittens. I had one of my domestics spayed at 4 weeks after delivery and she continued to nurse the kittens thereafter.

Do try and get an earlier spay appt and also, do try to keep her indoors!

Yep sounds like she is going in to heat again which is possable like a week after having the kittens. Please keep her in and the doors all shut she will try everything to worm her way to your heart to let her out. She wants a male LOL.
