I just found out my 81 year old father's stray puppy he took in was pregnant and gave birth to 8 puppies. The problem is, the mom is a chihuahua and the puppies took all her calcium and dad had to take her to the vet, where she was given intravaneous fluids and put on 3 days no puppy feeding. Therefore, my dad and his step daughter are having to feed these 8 puppies by bottle every 4 hours and when the mom is well enough in 3 days, she can only nurse 2 of the puppies!.
I know this is the cat site but I wondered if anyone knew of a shelter that may help him near Independence, Missouri, if they maybe have volunteers who may foster a few of the puppies or something because soon he and his step daughter will have to start mowing grass, his full-time summer job. Please don't judge him or me for this mess, as I live in Ohio and have no control over what he does and he is not usually sensible about anything he does!
I just want to know if anyone in the Independence/Kansas City, Missouri knows of anyone who may be able to help him. Thanks. (You can pm me if you do have some suggestions that may be helpful). Thank you.
