Over the past 6 months or so, my about to be 14 year old cat Copper has been throwing up her food. It started out very rarely, and I just discounted it as the occasional upset tummy or whatnot. Over the past month or two, Copper's been throwing up food more often (maybe once every two weeks?).

I have her on free choice Innova Evo, and have had for over a year, and she's doing wonderfully on it. When she throws up, it's always either food or bile, never a hairball (she doesn't think she has to lick herself anymore
).

One of the strange things i've noticed is the quantity of food she throws up. All her life Copper's been the kind of cat that goes and eats one or two pebbles of food at a time and that's it. I've never seen her sit down and eat much more than that. However, when she throws up, she usually throws up about 15 pieces of food or so. All seem equally digested so I have to assume that she sat down and ate that much at once then barfed it back up.

Any ideas about this, or what to do?

I would take her to the vet as soon as possible, just to be sure.
Please let us know what happens. How does she seem to feel otherwise?

Maybe she's getting an aversion to that food...

At 14 yrs old, I would suggest a vet visit and bloodwork, i.e. a "senior" checkup.

I would tell the vet about this the way you described it to us. If she's pronounced healthy, I would suspect that the food just isn't agreeing with her. My 9 yr old cat has developed a more sensitive tummy over the years. He developed a pattern much like your kitty (the frequent vomiting). He's on canned food now and doing much better. He hardly ever vomits now. Of course, with recent events (recalls) you have to pick and choose canned food carefully...but it's been very beneficial for us.
