Okay I hadn't really discussed this but I keep having this horrible nightmare.
In everyone of the dreams I am out walking Lilly and these guys that know me but for some reason I don't actually know these people they are like imaginary people, but anyway they are out walking their dogs and they have fighting dogs and they are trying to be all tough and they see me and I have this feeling that they dislike me for turning them in for fighting their dogs and when they see me they start following me even though I try to avoid them and two of them grab me and hold me while the other throws Lilly into their fighting dog and the dog attacks her and I manage to get loose and when I start trying to hit them and yelling and such they take off after kicking my dog and I grab Lilly up and take her to the vet and the strange thing is its not my vet and she passes away while they are trying to save her and there are animal control people there and I am in hysterics and threatening to go after these guys.

And I honestly don't know where these nightmares are coming from but they always involve my rat terrier Lilly and I just don't get it. I wake up either screaming or crying and then I call out to her to make sure she is safe. And I just don't understand what is going on with me. Sorry this was so long but I needed some input on this. I had wanted to say something earlier today but didn't really have enough time. If this is the wrong place to put this please just let me know. I just know we have a few people here that are good at deciphering dreams and such and I just want to know what they mean. Or if I am simply weird.

Well Lilly has for the most part been fairly healthy she just went through a very bad chewing stage to the point that my vet actually got a bit worried about her getting something very bad but we finally redirected that.

And as for being afraid of men I don't think I am I was raised by my dad and my uncles and they were very good to us. Had one really bad relationship when I was 21-22 but when it ended I felt like I delt with. But I have turned a guy in for having fighting pits I saw one of his dogs and it was in awful shape his whole leg was messed up. So I turned him in but he never even knew I saw his dogs I used to drive by his house and he had like 8 pits and all looked beaten up and I couldn't live with myself if I didn't do something. But I don't even live next to anyone so I don't know why I think I would run into people like this anyway. So like I said I don't know what is going on with me.

What about the food recall? Has that affected you at all? Maybe the fighting dogs represent illness & the owners are the food? It's the first thing that popped in my head.

Maybe it isn't about your dog at all. Maybe you are Lilly and your are running away from something that has been eating you up that you don't want to face in RL.

Sweetie, i really don't know much about dreams or things of that nature but i didn't want to say i'll send lots of prayers and vibes your way that these nightmares go away (((((VIBES))))))
/ Have you been getting enough rest every night? Is there anything really stressfull that has been upsetting you lately in your life? Sometimes the things that go on when we're not sleeping have a lot of impact on our quality of sleep and our dreams. I hope things improve. If not, please look into seeing a sleep specialist
You're definitely getting REM sleep if you're having deep dreams like that which you can recollect easily. REM is the deepest stage of sleep from what i remember from my Psychology II class. It almost sounds like you're having Night Terrors like little kids get. I know with those from experience working at nurserys/etc that Night Terrors usually do go away. Please see a sleep specialist about this if it keeps up. I'll be thinking about you

No my animals were safe from the recall we had a scare with Tavia because she eats science diet but I checked the numbers and hers was safe. This had been going on long before the recall I don't even know how long it has been going on. And I don't really know how to find out if it is about something besides Lilly that I am surpressing.

Good for you, for turning the guy in, I would have done the same.

How about stress? sometimes when under alot of stress people can get some very strange dreams.

From personls xp some meds can give you down right strange dreams,.
they gave me some stuff for pain when i first broke my back, not only did it cause memory issues, but some of the dreams i started having where done right, gross.

I would vote more for stress something is upsetting you

Thanks Nikki and everyone I do know when I was a little girl my dad said I used to wake up screaming all the time and I don't remember those dreams now other than one and I know what that was about. I once had a nightmare about a rooster bigger than the house trying to eat me but shortly before that my aunts mean rooster chased me and if i remember right he chased me into a tree and I have been scared of roosters my whole life.
But maybe that has to do with my dreams now meaning maybe I work things out in my dreams. I know over the past few years alot of stuff has happend and a few of the things happened when I was a child but I don't see how it could affect me now. My mom walked out when I was a toddler and then when I was in the summer of my kindergarden year she kidnapped my sister and I. And it took seven weeks for my dad to find us. But I had alot of support afterwards from our family they actually smothered us in support. But other than my little seperation anxiety I don't see how that can be causing my nightmares about Lilly. I do appreciate the prayers.

I used to have re-occuring terrors as a kid. I realized as an adult it always happened when I had ice cream before bed. Weird but maybe it is food related?!

Holy cow! And that dream is a repeater? Once would be too much.

Try this: tonight before you go to sleep, tell yourself that you are going to step into your dream tonight. Go through the dream's images in your head, and stop what's happening where you want to change the dream, probably before/when they grab you. Change the dream by going through all the steps of what happens, (something Buffy-style, Xena, or Nikita would be good). Then tell yourself tonight you will remember to change the dream. Then go to sleep. You can do it.

I used to have nightmares and night terrors, too, and repeaters. The only way I could get out of the night terrors was to scream, but I'd be having an asthma attack and couldn't. I learned to have lucid dreams and change them. I hope it helps. I'm sending this with best wishes.

You are more than welcome Gail
Sounds like you've had a lot of stressers in your life that may be triggering your nightmares. It might sound a bit off topic- but do you get any exercise throughout the day or have a time set aside to pray/read/ do yoga (whatever you need to do to unwind) exercise and quiet time help keep your body healthy and are a good way to deal with and reduce stress. Maybe you could try that for a bit each day- maybe a nice jog or walk around your neighborhood and a 1/2 hour or so stretching before bed to undwind. If you reduce stress while you're awake- chances are it will help aleviate those bad dreams. If not though- i would definitely look in to seeing a sleep specialist- you are not getting a good nights rest with those dreams you're having. It does sound like you are hitting REM sleep though (the deepest form of sleep- most people feel rested after they reach that phase then wake up slowly - but if you're waking up in the middle of a REM sleep dream no wonder you're feeling disorentied! That can definitely happen from what i remember of my psych ii class. Also- just because you're hitting that stage of sleep does not mean it's good quality. - how many hours of sleep do you get on average a night? Do you wake up in the middle of the night from your nightmares, or just in the morning then recall everything? My bet is that stress/life has a lot to do with it- but it could be something else. I would see a sleep specialist if this continues and have a sleep study done.
