Awww! I've missed my TCS family soooo much! Sorry i haven't been online since i got back home. I've been back in town since Tuesday night (Colin and I went on "vacation" to Alabama for a few days to see his family and house sit for his mom/dad) The trip to Alabama went suprisingly wonderful- Colin and I worked things (some of ya'll may remember our little tiff before we went out of town
) out and my sister and his friend came over while we were gone to watch our dogs (indoors) and let them out 4x a day. The actual trip to Alabama was great- i guess we just needed some time to destress and hang out- that was awesome. We also got to see the Pompeii exhibit while we were in Mobile- it was really neat- i definitely recommend it to everyone if it comes to your city
. / Here's the bad part though - the kicker was the trip back home. I was sick as a dog!
I wasn't feeling well the Tuesday before we left to come home (it's about a 6 hour drive from Mobile,AL to Memphis,TN give or take traffic/road conditions). As soon as we left to come home though- i got violently ill.
I threw up the entire car ride back home. At first i didn't know what was wrong- i do have Vertigo (treated by mediciation and it is usually under control with that) so i wasn't sure if it was just a little motion sickness or what. But it got worse- we had to pull over every few minutes so i could go throw up on the side of the road or stop into a restroom. To make things even more peachy- the interstate was soooo bumpy/rough in spots we were driving on- that did NOT help the whole feeling nauscious thing one bit. We had to stop every few minutes the entire way back. That was the worst car ride of my life
It was definitely one of those times i was wishing i could snap my fingers and be at home
After almost 8 hours for what should have been a 6 hour trip home (we had to stop every few minutes and i kept getting sick) we finally got back home. I was sick the rest of the night to the point that i couldn't even keep down water or pedialyte popcicles. So yesterday morning i made an emergency doctors appointment. So while Colin was at work yesterday, my mom (bless her!
took me in to the office. I have Colitious which she thinks is from food poisioning (the thing that stinks is i tried to eat really healthy the entire time i was out of town- think baked chicken and roasted turkey and salads when we went out to eat- geesh!)AND i have the stomach bug that's been going around!
This is aweful. It's caused my colon to start bleeding really bad (they had to do some tests at the doctors office yesterday- that's how they diagnosed the colitious). It's also near that time of the month- so that coupled with my already exisiting GI issues (IBS, Gastroparesis, and PCOS) i'm killed over with cramps. So yeah.....nice trip home from Alabama! Instead of enjoying my days off work i'm doped up on antiboitics. The positive thing though- I'm home with my furbabies- so sick or not i'm happy
. Also- the other wonderful foster mommy who had my little bitty kittens has kindly said she would watch them a few days longer for me while i'm sick so that i don't have to worry about. (no way i could do a feeding every 3-4 hours right now for infant kittens.) Also- while i was out of town, both Ivy and Iris my older foster girls got spayed and found wonderful forever homes. So that is my positive note to my rant. / Also- does anyone else have Colitious or had it and how long did it take for you to feel better? The doctor said mine should go away once my colon starts to heal from the meds. Thanks for letting me rant. I've missed you all dearly!!! I was definitely having TCS withdrawls!

I'm glad you're home and that you and Colin worked out your issues.
But I'm so sorry that your trip home was so bad.

Welcome home.

/ I'm hoping these antibiotics kick in soon. I'm definitely a little better today than i was yesterday/tuesday so that's a good thing. The cramping and my stomach do not feel any better though - just the nausciousness. I'm supposed to go to my GI doc. tomorrow if i'm not better.

I would talk to a naturopath about some supplements to put the good "bugs" back in your gut. The antibiotics kill them all and could lead to other problems such as a yeast overgrowth. (This happened to my mom and she was sick for a while, but is better now.) I hope you feel better soon!

Oh gee you poor thing!!!! I'm sorry you're really sick and the trip back was horrible
I am pleased you had fun while you were there, and the animals were all good and Iris and Ivy were adopted - yay!

I know nothing about colitis, but I hope you recover soon!!

I was thinking about you yesterday, too, and today!

Oh gosh, the trip home sounds horrible. I'm so glad that's behind you. With the meds and the love of your kitties, I hope you are much better soon!

Ugh, I don't like travel anymore. Stay home from now on.
Spend lots of time on TCS while you are on the mend, O.K.?

Thankyou for the suggestion.
I appreciate it. I don't know of any naturopath specialists in my area, but since i live in a pretty big city i'm sure there are some around- i'll look into that if i'm not better soon. I'm definitely keeping an eye on the meds and my reaction to them - i get thrush pretty easily so certain things i can't have. The colitious is so bad right now though they told me eithor take the antiobiotics and stay on bedrest for a few days or go in the hospital. I took the lesser of two evils. I do feel aweful just trying to lay around though- my house needs to be cleaned and vaccumed, and i'm having a hard time just making myself not do anything. I'm supposed to work Sat,Sun, and Mon but i'm going to see how i feel. They already have a doctors note from when i went the other day (Colin took them a note for me so they'd know what was going on- and they were really nice about it.
) I'm hoping the antiobiotics kick in soon so i start to feel better- i'm feeling aweful at the moment.

Welcome home.
Me too- we really had a great time just hanging out together and being lazy on our days off- i think we had just been so stressed out before we left we just were grouches- so the trip was great for that- just the car ride home was aweful because i got soo sick. I'm still trying to figure out what i got food poisioning from. I really tried to eat healthy while i was out and be good. Who knows!

I was soo happy they got homes too
Ivy got a home before i had left town and i was just holding her till she could be spayed. And on the day before i left to go out of town when i went to drop the girls off at the shelter- a lady just happened to be in there and saw Iris- it was a match made in heaven
I did the interview and adopted her out so i know she got a great home. I am soo happy they found great homes so fast. Sick as i feel right now that makes me really happy knowing my furbabies are in good homes now. / I don't know much about Colitis eithor. Just that it's an inflamation of the Colin and can cause bleeding/ulsurs and that there are different types. The doctor said the type i have should go away with the antibiotics.

Welcome back Nikkipants!!! *hugs*

I dont have colitious, but i do have severe travel sickness which doesnt help if im already sick. I had food poisoning last year and it hit me really quickly the day after we ate out. Tristan and i had the same food and drinks but there was nothing else that could have set me off. I ended up leaving work early thinking i was going to be ill. By the time i reached the train station i couldn't wait another 40 mins for the bus i just missed so i went and rested in the police station where i was safe. By the time i got home i was vomiting
weird thing is when i thought i was feeling tonnes better and had colour back in my face, i had another sick fit later in the day

So technically i dont know how youre feeling but i really hope you get better soon *hugs* and i hope your furbabies are well

I'm sorry you had food poisioning.
I do understand it. I had it over the summer from a BBQ place we ate at. I was really ill then as well...but NOTHING like i am now. I thew up quite a bit over the summer when i had it and was miserable- a bit like i feel now- but now it's multiplied by a ton because on top of that i have the stomach bug that's been going around and also really nasty cramps from the IBS and pms too (bad timing!) So i think it's a combination of things that are making me feel nasty. Thankfully though- everyone around me has been soooo wonderful.Colin has been taking good care of me, and while he was at work yesterday, my mom took me to the doctor and spent the rest of the day taking care of me and then today after colin left for work, my best friend came over for a few hours to keep me company as well. They've all been soo wonderful. I'm really weak and still feeling exhausted right now so the extra help is really nice. It's also good to have my dogs and little Kojak the kitten here with me to keep me company
I'm still feeling a bit aweful though - my carpet/rugs need vaccumed and the dishes are dirty in my sink (i'm such a neat freak -that things like that just sitting around are really bothering. I managed to throw a load of laundry in the washer earlier...and that zapped me....so i'm trying to just be patient and let other who have offered help me since i'm feeling lousey.

Thanks hon
I definitely had a great time minus the trip back home.
We got to see the Pompeii exhibit and we just had lots of time to unwind and stop and smell the roses for a bit- definitely nice considering the stress of both our jobs
We also got to see his brother and his brother's wife (she's like another sister to me) So that was also really nice as well. I had a great time there it was just the trip back home that was a royal nightmare. I'm going to have to take his truck in to get it detailed tomorrow. (i'm too weak to clean it- but it absolutely needs to be cleaned and disinfected since i gave it absolution

Thanks Natalie! I appreciate the hugs and doggie kisses! My pups are being lazy at the moment and sleeping in a big dog pile with little Kojak right in the middle of them
He thinks he's a puppy too

Uhhhh the cramping will not go away
I just took my last antibiotic for the night and made myself eat a bite of food with it. This stinks! Does anyone know about how long it takes to get rid of Colitis caused from food poisioning? I'm completely miserable here. My colon is still bleeding pretty bad too...so i'm thinking if i'm not better in the morning, i'll call my GI doctor and see what he says.
