Merlin is 4 and is neutered (has been since he was 6 months old). However, he humps stuffed animals and blankets and "grooves" (
) against them nightly. Is this a hormone thing or could it be related to some type of dominance issue.. or maybe its just.. nothing?

I read in another thread that it isn't that unusual, and almost impossible to stop once they figure out that it feels good!

Sheesh. I read the title of this thread and thought you were making trophies out of teddy-bear heads or something...

Exactly!!
It's a "male" thing!
I have taken in a little boy and he has raided a stuffed groundhog from the toy bin. He loves on his "baby" all the time. Even calls it "growng-gog!"
I say let them go for it....it boosts their ego,and staisfies that "instinct" they are born with and never lose!

Ehh... let him do it! Unless he's truly obsessed--to the point of injury--it's harmless. If he is obsessed, it could be boredom--he needs to be diverted to a different activity, and shown that, hey--playing with the jingle ball or whatever is fun too! Try him on some catnip, see if that works (but it just makes some cats more horny!).
