Good morning. Well, I was a big fan of Nutro until the recall mess. Looking at switching to either Wellness or Natural Balance dry and wet.

Any thoughts?

I got an email from Jennifer Freeman, an Animal Nutritionist at Natural Balance that all NB products are "co-packed" at a separate facility in US. What this means is that NB uses the facility's (not own by NB) machines to manufacture NB products. Would that still consider owning their own plant? I wonder if there are any companies out there that owns their own plant to mfg their products. Anyone?

I have a thread that I posted her email along with Chicken soup's email.

Right now I am only concerned about all the products going thru ONE manufacture for so MANY brands ....

Co owning means 2-5 ish using one plant and if the baking thing certifies it is gluten free I am feelin a bit better

I like NB better than Wellness for a few purr-sonal reasons. Besides that, NB poops smell better than Wellness poop!

All of our animals are on Natural Balance and they do very well on it. Lola, especially, has a great coat condition and no residual gastrointestinal issues since she's been on it. The only one we're switching is Addie, because she just doesn't eat much and is losing weight at 8 months. So, she's going to be on Royal Cannin kitten, which she likes, and KMR (if we can get her to eat it).

I haven't really tried wellness, so I can't comment. We've given the wet once or twice, but all that showed was that Lola, who loves wet food, loves it and Addie, who hates wet food, hates it. So, nothing interesting there.....

Natural Balance wet has been a huge success with my sensitive kitty.

All my cats love Natural Balance. I'm no longer feeding Wellness due to the connection with Menu Foods. The cats do like Wellness but they don't miss it.

Thanks so much for your thoughts on this. It's been a little confusing (to say the least) to decide what to do as the information on the recall seems to be a bit inconsistant.
