How sad, he was a great and noble actor. They don't make noble anymore it seems. My sympathies to our British members for this great loss.

What a shock. He was a great, great actor, whose career spanned from the 1950s to today, as well as a writer, director and producer. I remember him saying of his role in the Harry Potter movies that he HAD to take the role because his granddaughter said she would never speak to him if he didn't, and he couldn't take that chance.

Here is a link to his filmography. http://us.imdb.com/Name?Harris,+Richard

I'm very sorry to hear about this man's death. I honestly have never heard of him, but it sounds like he was someone who will be greatly missed and who has contributed alot in his life. I am going to go check out the link Heidi posted so I know more about him.

Richard Harris was such a good actor, and a legendary carouser! I have been singing "How to handle a woman" (from Camelot) all morning in tribute. And trying to forget the terrible "Tarzan the Ape Man" with Bo Derek.....

My thoughts are with his family and friends

Richard Harris was an amazing man and actor. The just replayed an interview that was done with him after the 1st Harry Potter movie. One question asked of him was would he regret that he would mostly be known for his role in Harry Potter and The Gladiator, instead of his amazing dramatic roles of the past. His response was he didn't care if he was remembered at all. In the grand scheme of things it meant nothing. If he had to live his life over again, he would do it exactly the same way. He centered himself by continually going back to the town where he was born in Ireland and maintaining his friendships there.

I just saw him in the remake of the Count of Monti Cristo and I can say that the world has definately lost on of it's best actors!

I kind of wondered if he was in Gladiator or not .... I thought he played a good role; I had never seen him in other movies before. Probably because I did not know who he was.
