There is a lady who escaped from the nursing home behind us who has collaped in the street by our driveway. The firetruck (rescue people) just got here- please pray that she will be okay!
It's alright now, apparently; she laid there for about 15 minutes after she found her, but they got her up and she seems to have just fallen and couldn't get up, as they say
. One of the nursing home people (who came to my door looking for a phone to call 911) took her away in her car after the rescue people checked her out. She had fallen in the gutter, by the covered drain. I couldn't see her for the azalea until I went out in the yard! That was scary!
. I sure hope she is OK! What kind of nursing home is so poorly-staffed that people are "escaping" that really shouldn't?? This woman is proof that some people really are a danger to themselves (or are in danger from the elements) if they are out unsupervised!
Apparently she was fine- she was up and walking and talking. The nursing home employee said something about the lady having just gotten there, and that they probably should have called the police first instead of looking for her themselves. I thought "You mean you don't have a procedure in place for if this happens?"
, but I didn't say it because she was already beside herself. As my DH said "Operation Headless Chicken" is not the way to go with something like this!
