I hope I am posting in the right place here, and if someone wants to move my post to the right spot on this forum, please feel free to do so...

I wanted to know, sometimes when I'm fussing my Fudge and he's even coming up to me for love and cuddles, I'll be stroking away and his eyes are going "guey" and half-shut, why does he suddenly go and give me a nip?? Sometimes, it's much harder than that too - he'll dig his teeth right in and then run away as if he know's it "come keen"???

Is it a frustrated bite?? Does he suddenly not want me to fuss him?? Do I smell or something or have stroked the "wrong spot"?

Any comments would be interesting and helpful.

Sounds to me like simple overstimulation.

Ferris will give me "love bites" when he gets too into the lovies.
But he's learned (thanks to me yelling "OW!") that it hurts if he bites too hard, so now he'll bite me lightly then follow it up with a lick.

I agree alot of times cats will nip/bite when they have either had enough or too excited/overstimulated. When he bits you need to hollor ouch and then stop petting or doing whatever he needs to know if he bites he wont get attention.
My cat used to do the opposite and would bite to get my attention or to be petted I had to teach him thats the wrong way.
By yelling ouch it teaches them to release that is the first word someone usually says when getting bit or hurt. So its kind of a universal signal that everyone uses not just 1 person.

Dino is a tail tapper or swisher - once I see his tail doing that, I know to back off or he'll bite me, not hard, but hard enough to know he's had enough !

It's funny - Fudge came over to me about 5 minutes ago after sleeping a while. I started giving him strokes and cuddles, and his "motor" was running, purring away.

After a while, the motor started to "run out of gas(!)", and he went ahead and gave me a knip.

He jumped off the couch and then started washing and eating. He then came back to me meowing as if to say "I'm sorry".

He's now curled up again on his little bed by the window...!!

Hey guys - how do you put the pictures at the bottom of your posts?? I'd like to share a photo of Fudge with you!!

There you go...what do you think to my baby??

Here his is on the left in daddy's arms, and on the right in the sink!! He often jumps in there when I'm having a shower, as if to say "I'm having a wash too, just like daddy..."

I have learned Sebastian's tail signals ... when its thumping, I stop and let him tell me when to start again. If I do not stop, he grabs my arm with his paws and my hand with his teeth. OUCH.

Your Fudge is so handsome! I love the photo in the sink

Zoey is a tail basher too

She also bites when she gets over stimulated. Actually, so does Saki but its more rare with him. I agree with yelling 'ooowww!!' like you're in pain they will usually stop and look at you all funny.
