Have another Q? I bought a crate the other day for Zellers birthing, I wanted some advice from the board to get her used to it. Maybe i should take it back and just get a box for her. I have the crate back in my room now and she doesn't go back there really unless i'm there. If the crate is in the living room she'll go into it. sit for awhile and then come out. I really don't want to keep the crate in the living room because i have 4 kids always runiing around after school and it get's noisy. I figured my room would be the saftest and the more quiet of all the rooms.. Any advice?

unless you will lock her in the crate then she may or may not use it , try coaching her in there a few times a day . leave it in the bedroom while doing this . once she is ready to give birth she will more then likly go to it , but she may not. if you notice she is in labour you can coach her into it.

just a thought on crate for delivery-if something goes wrong it will make it that much harder to assist...years ago a semi feral i won over started to deliver and kitten got stuck in canal...my recent cat delivered her kittens in a rubbermaid 18 gallon with a hole cut in side and lid off she was able to push off side walls and it worked great

Truth be told...my queens deliver in a covered litter box lined with kitty liners
all enclosed in a 3'x3'x3' cage.

I find that is the best way for me. Mom cat has no choice but to go into the dark cave. Easily cleaned and reuseable.

I'll see if I can take pics of it...I'm camera challenged!

The crate does need to be in a area she is at. If she goes in your closet alot make the bottom her nesting area she will feel comfy in there. Remember she will go to where she feels the safest and it is possable it wont be the spot that was choosen.
