Saw this article on the news website I go to

http://www.9news.com/news/article.aspx?storyid=66651

and it reminded me that while we are thinking about our own cats and dogs in light of this food recall, there are probably many shelters that run soley on donations that are really hurting for wet food right now.

We're going to be bringing some wet food to this shelter, and checking with others in the area to see if they need food that wasn't recalled as well. If it is within your means, I encourage you to do the same. Our local news picked up this story, but how many other shelters are in this situation and aren't getting press?

Just wanted to post an update to the story I posted this morning - and it's a good update! At least for this shelter.

Just an idea, but if you do find a shelter that is in the same position, contact your local media about it. This story unfortunately doesn't seem to be going away, and I'm sure they want different angles to the story - a shelter struggling because of the recall is definitely a different angle. And of course it will raise awareness, like this story did for this shelter.
