It's widely accepted that you must not vaccinate a female who has any possibility of being pregnant. Vaccinations with live virus during pregnancy can produce kittens with Cerebellar hypoplasia, a brain malformation that leads to tremors and unusual jerky movements.
My question goes to the wait time after vaccination before a queen is put to stud. I have noticed varying rules between Veterinarian's on other things and I am wondering if this area has a standard wait time. I have been unable to find much information in any of the books I have consulted.
My question for breeders: What is your Veterinarian's opinion on how long you should wait after annual vaccinations before putting your queen to stud and do you use attenuated (modified live ) or inactivated (killed) vaccine.
Thank you in advance to all who add to this discussion.
