I curently live in Saint paul Minneasoda. We go to Grand Ave Vet center. Before senior screen, my idea as something needed due to Toms drinking more water then useal and his age, our bill for a boster distremper vac, was $16.50. Now our bill is going to be $216.50.(Guess) This vet seems like a good one but due to my limited budget and education expenses coming up this summer/fall are there any cheaper ones around in the twin cities area. We took our past cats to snelling ave, ventay center. List some vets pleaee I would appeate it.

Does varying cost of vet vists from place to place mean greater or lesser quality, like with buying cat food?

No vet $$$ doesnt = quality

My current vet s office call is 31

the same quality vet two miles down the road is 44

my old vet is 48

vets are like ( they are ) drs and set pricing due to rent , supplie cost ... my old vet had a million dollar building he built so ya you paid a bit extra for the auto blood work vs waiting a day ...

Thank you I will get the booster, tommarow and talk over the Kiddey issue, if I cannot perswade a cheaper deal then I will at work over lunch call around to see about the costs of other places. It would herlp greatly if you would make a list or give online refences of vets in my area.

I live in Saint paul MN, in Highland village..

I agree, higher price doesn't mean higher quality. It just depends.

Example, complaint - kitty scoots on the floor after pottying.

Vet #1 - Office Call + Anal Sac Expression + Upsold Shots ..including unnecessary one = $140

Vet #2 (when the problem didn't go away) - Partial Office Call + 2 dewormer pills = $30

Vet #2 solved the problem. Vet #1 did nothing good or helpful.

If you're interested in trying to find a cat doctor, you can search here

Not all feline specialists are necessarily better, but you might find a really good one too. I take mine to a small cat-only clinic and I'm real happy with the vet and she's reasonable too.

Larpenture Clinic is a good Clinic, and fairly priced.

All Care Vetrinary Clinic on Snelling is also a wonderfull reasonably priced clinic.

What all is being done with the higher costs? $200+ is a lot for routine care.

We used to take ours to the Fridley one (on University) - Northern Lights Vet.

We live near Willmar now and use the vets over here. They are pretty reasonable for routine stuff.

It does vary - vets in Minnetonka and Edina would charge more then some other place.

Our cat in question is fourteen years old, we may think he has kiddey issues, he had harmless tumors on him as it is. The test to check the danger of the tumors was $200 Now they say a senior screen, blood work, blood pressure and kiddey test would totel $200. My question is there a vet near us that does this for cheaper?.

I'm actually really envious reading those prices... it costs me nearly £40 ($75 USD) just for a basic consultation with treatment costs on top of that! Although drugs are fairly inexpensive for basic stuff like antibiotics.

Radar's recent illness wasn't as expensive as I'd feared it would be tbh - 2 consultations, 2 antibiotic injections, 2 anti-inflammatory injections, and oral antibiotics for 5 days was around £90 (about $170 USD).
