This morning when my husband got up for work, he found Max dead. I guess what ever was wrong with him was just too much for his tiny little body to handle. I have to admit I'm kind of shocked; he was looking better the last two days. I'm very sad since I got so attached to little Max in the last two weeks. He was such a sweet little guy and such a trooper. Of course, my daughter, who's four, is not taking this well. This is her first close experience with death. She wants another kitten, and I had to tell her no. Mommy just doesn't have it in her right now. Maybe in a few months...

Thank you so much for all your suggestions and concern. I'm just glad that Max got to have so much love in the last few weeks of his life. He was a sweet little guy.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a failure to thrive kitten who was 13oz. His name was Benny. The poor little guy never grew past the 13 oz. i got him on mothers day last year and had him for two wonderful months. He gave me so much love. I had hoped that my love for him would keep him going but unfortunately God needed him more. I do not regret a second of the time with him. I also have his brother Billy who was also a failure to thrive but fortunately made it and it a wonderful healthy boy. Billy is a little extra special to me because he has Benny in him. We just need to enjoy everyday and be thankful for the time we have with our babies.

Dawn; I am so sorry to hear about Max loosing his battle. I am in tears; I had hoped we could save him. My love and prayers to you and your family. Let us know when you feel ready to get another kitten for your daughter. Yours is a very loving family and Max was very lucky. Remember, that no matter how short the stay, Max was supposed to be with you, and you will all be stronger because of him. Don't forget us here at the Cat Site. I don't have the exact URL but someone here will know it for you to visit The Rainbow Bridge site they have some beautiful suggestions to help young children deal with the loss of a pet. God Bless Little Max

I am sorry you lost him. It is such a hard thing to go through. Kittens are so fragile and sometimes we cant do anything but love them for a little while. I am glad that he got to spend that time in a house and not on the streets somewhere. You did a great thing by taking him home, if even for a short while.

Dawnt91,

I am so sorry to hear about Max. I truly believe that things happen for a reason, even though we may never now WHY. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
