Yesterday while getting a stuffed cornish game hen from the oven I experenced the 'wonderful' pleasure of having a plate fall right on my left big toe, http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima.../angryfire.gif. I mean the tip of the plate hit the toe bone at the joint and then the plate, thankfully didnt shatter but instead landed right side up.http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...laughing02.gif.

I screamed a wild cry then thought the bone was broken but after the pain dulled discovered I could move it.

Then today as I was making Tuna helper I spilled the bowl careless left out on thew top of the oven,(I wont put bowls opn the oven again) the bowl smashed into two halves and then I cleaned uup the spilled food before cleaning the oven, unknowning I burnt my thumb by touching hot food. My toe is still tender.http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...lies/frown.gif

Does anyone have cooking danger stories they would like to aid?http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/ima...s/rolleyes.gif

You poor thing. Perhaps you should order dinner in tonight?

Well, here's my sad story....
It was my first time to cook Christmas dinner for the entire family (mine & DH's together for the first time) so of course I cooked a turkey. Everything went as planned and the turkey was cooked to perfection. But, when the turkey went from oven to platter, let's just say it ended up having a tour of my kitchen floor first. Picture this - struggling to take the almost 30 lb bird out of the pan, finally got a good grip on it, go to move it to the platter and it slips off the side of the pan and bounces on the floor with the cat chasing it around the kitchen... Needless to say, I didn't tell anyone about the bird's adventure!

Oh heck, well I think you should keep out of the kitchen for a few days too

I once dropped the grill pan when I was cooking for about 6 people, you should have seen all the sausages & tomatoes roll around the floor, getting full of kitties hairs
luckily I hadnt done the bacon, so it was just bacon butties that day

That's not just one kitchen accident, it's a disaster area! I hope you are feeling better soon.

I once had a guest round and was making fish pie - salmon, cod, king prawns, green peppers and red onion in a cheese sauce with mashed potato on top with grated cheese on top of that. I asked Nate to help me get it out of the oven. I told him he'd need to use both hands. He used one hand. I watched as, in slow motion, the dish slid off the baking tray, turned over, and landed potato side down on the floor.

I was so angry, I can't repeat the language I used.

Anyway it turned out OK - we managed to get it off the floor in one piece, I scraped off the top of the potato, grated more cheese on top, and stuck it back under the grill to brown it - in fact if it hadn't been for me yelling blue murder our guest wouldn't have even known what happened
