Is this an experiment to see how your cat reacts, or an experiment to see how many people will act silly at their cats just for a reaction?!??!!?

So of course I did it with mine...

Stumpy was VERY concerned. She ran off to start with, then crept back towards me with big saucer eyes, and came right up to my face, backed away again, then slowly crept back toward me again. Silly girl

Lily just came into the room so I did it to her as well, and her eyes also went really wide. I got the impression that if she was more brave she would have come closer to investigate, but she was too much of a scaredy cat to get too close.

I wonder if it's because the sound and breath on them is like a hiss, but not QUITE a hiss? They're probably quite curious as to what the heck you're doing!

Edit: Ok and here's the video to prove it!

All of mine are inside cats and if they have ever seen a dog it's been a very long time!

Thats sooo sweet!

I tried it on Kitty. He didn`t like it one bit! He was on the bed purring then he lept off and was staring at me and looking really hesitant.

I`m not going to do it again.

I have 2 big dogs that pant all the time and we pant back at them in play. My cats are used to us doing this and don't react at all. Maybe some cats react because they haven't seen it before?

haha...I just did it to Neko, he got real close to the ground and slinked over to me stared and then started sniffing the air at me. When I did it to Willie he got big eyes that darted around on my face then burst out from under the covers (somehow he put himself under there perfectly with just his head sticking out) with a big meow ran up to my face, shoved his head in my mouth, then started rubbing my face meowing loudly the whole time
What a character!

LOL, I just tried it in front of Ginger and she turned around and looked at me IMMEDIATELY, then sat there staring at me, like, "I KNOW there's nothing wrong with you - why are you making that sound, Mum?"

I just sat on the bed near Villy and started panting. She sneezed, looked at me, then turned around and faced the other way
Not bothered! Maybe I didn't do it right!

I'll try to get a video, too. Ocean's been wanting to get online for awhile anyway.

Over the river and through the woods...
I just tried it with Gizmo and Missy. They were dozing on the couch and as soon as I started panting they were both wide away, ears flat, staring at me! Of course, the panting brought the dogs too so the experiment ended pretty quick. Good thing to...I think Gizmo was about to attack!

I'm not really sure what it is, but its very interesting. Ocean came from a shelter, and she has definitely seen dogs before and she has strong reactions to it. Have you tried it out, or are you just guessing they wont react? It may be different if they see their owner acting this way, rather than a dog.

Thanks for the reply

I tried it with Baylee when she was lying down, half asleep. She got up and looked at me, like she was concerned. She didn't come over to me, but it definitely got her attention. How strange!

ETA: I tried it again when she was sitting up grooming herself next to me... this time she started sniffing me and looking a bit worried.
I scooped her up for cuddles, which she was not too happy about... I bet the next time I do it she will run away, lol!

I did it and my kitten flipped, she looked at me like "what the.. you're a dog?". She wasn't concern she was on the offensive, I tried to be like I'm only kidding but she was like "back up"!
