Hope you better check because I have Iams kitten food pouches here that were part of the recall...I never used them though..they don't show on that list but I saw it somewhere that IAMS is definitely one of them.

Hope, some of the Iams pouches are included...please go the Iams site for a full list.

Folks..bottom line is read these threads from the beginning to the last message, there is updated information in each, including that the manufacturer's site does NOT have the full list of brands, as some brands are voluntarily recalling some of their foods. Please.

I work at Trader Joes in San Diego. I have asked my Captain to email the buyer to find out who the supplyer is. Luckely all the food we sell is patte style. I too feed my cat wet food from TJ's. She told me o wait because it may take till Monday to find out. Untill I do I will be giving Karma human tuna, lucky her she will get very spoiled. I will let you know if TJ's food is effected as soon as I hear anything. To be safe I would not feed your kitties the food.

As you know if you shop at Trader Joes everthing is on private lable. They buy everything directly from the manufacturer. They cut out the middleman.

It seems I just slid by on this one, chester hates anything that involves chunks in gravy.
On the other hand, dynah did have a quarter of a pouch of the Nutro kitten pouches 2 weeks ago (which she rejected). I returned the other one I had and no signs of illness so far (hopefully it was so little that it wont effect her).
I do however feed authority wet, in pate form. Is anyone else concerned that they're going to recall those next? Why on earth would it be just the ones in gravy???
I'm starting to wonder if it'd be wise to go and get some natural balance or merricks tomorrow, just enough to get us through this craziness. Think I'm being overly cautious?

This is really odd and I am not sure if this is a coincidence or not. About three weeks ago, my Bengal cat, Duma, got really sick and I took him to the emergency room and he had end stage kidney failure. I had to put him to sleep a week later. The vet said it was very odd that a 4 and 1/2 month old kitten would have the disease. I free fed him Nutro dry food and then 1 and a half packages of Wegmans wetfood, which is on the list. Now it is concerning me if these two events could be related. I also have Duma's sister who I had blood tested and thus far, she shows no kidney damage. However, she doesn't like soft food.

It is ironic this information comes out after losing one of my kittens. As a pet owner, I try to do everything I can for my cats and my mind was left wondering after losing one at such an early age.

I left a message for the FDA. This could be a coincidence, but it is so odd.

Probably, but better safe than sorry. If you think you're being paranoid, I don't even live in North America, though I get some foods produced there, and I've sorted out all wet foods, even canned, that have any wheat gluten for the time being.

Fortunately none of my cats will eat the "cuts and gravy" type food so they are not affected by the recall. I also do not buy any of the affected brands. I did try to feed them some Nutro both canned and pouches in December or January. They would not eat it.

This is very frightening, however. I know the food I have should be "safe" but there is that little, lingering doubt in the back of my mind. I will check the cans I have for wheat gluten.

For all of you whose cats are ill or become ill I'm sending all possible good thoughts and hopes for the kitties' recovery. This whole incident is so sad.

MAJOR vibes out to all of you that all your furbabies either ARE ok or WILL be ok!
I also hope that as many people as possible are aware of the recall, and how serious a matter it is.

I didn't see science diet, thank god...

This really alarms me to the fact that these companies mess up like this....

Be careful with feeding just tuna--too much tuna can cause its own problems, like vitamin E deficiency. Perhaps alternate it with some chicken and rice?

it angers me so much that so many pets could/will be hurt by this 'mix up'. IMAGINE if this was baby food - there would be some MAJOR suits going on. . . .I hope people speak up about this as more info goes out.

I have put everything I had that has wheat gluten (which was most of it, including the dry stuff) in a bag and I think I'm going to toss it regardless. I had a lot of the nutro, and some of the chunks in gravy, but not the affected dates. However, I did feed them one or two pouches of the stuff, and no idea what dates they were. I'm totally freaked out about it, and very very depressed.

Thanks for posting this. My 15 year old kitty eats Science Diet, and I had no idea that it was one of the foods being recalled until I checked this thread.

Thankfully he's not eating that one, it has too much fat in it and makes him sick
For once I'm glad a have a kitty with a sensitive stomach. And Sneaky Pie won't touch wet food at all

Just curious, any chance your Sneaky Pie is named after the book by Rita Mae Brown featuring her cat - Sneaky Pie Brown?
