No, the Menu Foods list is incomplete. I know I posted this in the other thread, but I want to post it here as well. Iams and Eukanuba are voluntarily recalled, as are some Nutro and Science Diet. The list on petsmart.com (a clickable link to a pdf file, not the link to the Menu Foods recall list) gives the upc codes and names of the specific flavors of Nutro Max Gourmet and Nutro Natural Choice pouches, Science Diet Savory Cuts etc.

You can also go the company websites for nutro, hills (science diet) and Iams and see notes re what they are recalling. Please be sure to tell folks the menu foods list is NOT complete.

yes, they are. iams/eukanuba and hill's science diet have the recalls on their websites, as well as the FDAs website.

Thanks everyone for keeping the information flowing.
Unfortunately, my Kenzie is a huge lover of gravy wet food and likes a lot of variety. We had several pouches and a couple of cans. Lord knows how much she has eaten. Unfortunately, she already has liver and kidney issues so I'm certain if she has eaten some it has not helped
I guess I will be visiting Petsmart tonight and exchanging some food.

Menu Foods executives are hiding under their desks waiting for the problem to blow over. And it will. The public has a short memory.

I seem to remember something like this happening several years ago -- something to do with toxic flea collars or something. The manufacturer was never punished for the murder of several thousand cats -- and today sells more flea collars and flea control products than ever. It was actually good for the corporation's business.

This so scary. I've been feeding my girls Nutro pouches for years now. The ones I have right now are outside the recall dates but I'm not going to use them. I be giving them Meow Mix for now.

I guess I should get them checked out.

I wonder how many more brands of cat foods are affected? Before it's over we'll probably learn that all of them are affected. We're tempted to just feed our cats people food from the table but they don't like it.

Thank you for the link...unfortunetly both of my cats suddenly went into acute kidney failure in the last 2 weeks....they are only 2 years old. I fed them both Nutromax Chicken & Liver. I cant even begin to tell you the hunt we have been on to find this toxin. I have place a call into the FDA today. Thanks again.

Well, Mi-ke gets Friskies canned, which seems OK, and Eukanuba dry. I tried her on a Eukanuba pouch, and she wasn't very interested, but they seem OK, anyway, per the codes. Meow Mix doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere, either, and I've got some of that.

This could really use more news coverage. If you google "pet food recall," you get stuff about the Diamond recall, which was a while back.

Let us know what you find out. Because my cats have been eating the recalled Nutro pouch food with no ill effects.
I would like to figure out what's going on.

ACK! I was looking at the MenuFoods site and SD isn't listed there. Thank you! Seb only eats SD dry, so we should be okay. This whole thing is just crazy. One company should not be manufacuring such a large portion of the products.

Tekgrl, we had been feeding both of our cats the Nutro Natural Choice Weight Management pouches and both went into acute kidney failure. DON'T FEED your cats these pouches! Nutro say they don't know what the cause is, but I don't trust them. We called the FDA today and they only have 1 report involving a dog, and 9 involving cats. I find it hard to believe 10 incidents spawned a $40 Million recall thoughout North America. They must know more than they're disclosing to the public. Until an official cause of the infected pouches are released along with exact date ranges, I wouldn't feed my pets any of them.

The 10 reports are only the confirmed deaths, I believe. I can't begin to imagine how many are ILL now, like yours. I'm so sorry that you're going through this.

Vet visit this morning....

For a couple of weeks Sadie has had rather dilute urine.
After I read about his recall I freaked.
Both my babies ate Nutro pouches.

Dexter and Sadie had a---
Chemistry Blood panel./BCC/T4/viral
Urinalysis - Complete.

I will have the lab results in 24 to 48 hrs.
Now we wait.

The vet said that if an animal had no symptoms, they are telling the owner to just discontinue feeding the recalled food.
But, if there were any symptoms of Kidney problems, it was important to do the tests.

After we get the results, I will decide what food to try next.
Please send vibes & prayers to all the kitties & doggies who have been harmed by this & if you have any doubt at all, don't feed a food until you are sure it is safe.

They take bids, whoever wins it wins it. Except for the company owned plants that will make products for that company.

With change overs (between products) and practically 24/7 running they do produce a lot.

I asked DH if they had been warned or required to test for anything in grain or gluten that could make animals very sick. He suggested alpha toxin, mold.

I did feed the outdoor kitty Max and a couple of strays some special kitty wet back in January, they seem ok. I hope I didn't cause any harm.

I wonder if there's going to be some sort of class action lawsuit, I certainly hope so.

i switched over to wellness when there were little black ooxidation spots showing up in the nutro pouches (it was pointed out by some angel on on TCS) Back then Nutro claimed there was no problem w their food but now i wonder.

sticking with wellness now.

Do you just return nutro pouches to petsmart, because i have some left over?

Oh man, this is all so scary!! I feed Roxie Nutro dry and wet, but the 5.5oz cans, she has never had any of the pouches or 3oz cans. It is still freaking me out big time though. I'm nervous they may recall those too! Have they come up with any information as to what ingredient or whatever is the cause????

I think my cats are safe. They do get pouches regularly, but they either get Whiska's or Iams. I hope neither of those are connected with the list of brands.
