I am so happy about this new furniture set up in my livingroom/front hallway. I got the Korean hutch last year and have been looking for a mirror and lamp for months. I finally found a lamp and a mirror that wasn't a fortune. My parents came over for dinner and helped my hang it tonight (BF is away with work). I am sooooo Happy about how it looks. Had to share:

Look at the furniture, NOT the little cutie in the corner of the pic.

Thank you.
I'm so happy. It takes me ages to decide on purchases and what is exactly right. I've spent the last 2 hours walking over to gaze at it (and take a photo of course).

If anyone has a home with a wall dividing their front hallway from the living room, it's worth considering removing it. There used to be a wall running the length of my house, dividing the livingroom and diningroom from the hall. It makes for such a small house. Without that wall, I have tons of space. My living room went from 10' across to 15'. The little tiny foyer in the front that you can see behind the french door, helps keep out drafts from the front door. I think they used to build homes with lots of walls and doors like that in the old days to keep the heat in the rooms, when they used coal or wood burning stoves. Now with forced air and modern windows, it's not as necessary.

The two neighbours on my right side have done the same gutting thing. Huge improvement. The neighbour on my left side likes the walls as she still uses a wood burning stove.

My mom put some fake bull rushes in the red vase. It's hard to see them in the photo. Already, I have noticed little paw prints on the hutch! Those bull rushes won't last long!

I can't take full credit. The previous owners removed the wall. I know what the size of the livingroom looked like as i've been in one of my neighbours homes who hasn't removed it.
The previous owners also installed the new (it was actually used, they salvaged it from a wrecker) hardwood and buffed it up. A good idea, if you want hardwood at a cheaper price. There are a lot of companies out there that salvage heritage bits from homes that are being demolished or renovated. Hardwood, doors, fireplace mantles, fences, etc.
